I think Edmundson is an insurance policy for Romanov, as well as Kraken bait, I still think Bergy is shopping for a LD - obie
Agreed. I think they see him as able to play 2nd pairing, ideally 3rd, which allows Romanov to start 3rd and move up. If Romanov shows he's the top pairing guy people hope he is by season's end the left side is Romanov, Chiarot, Edmundson, Kulak, Mete barring any trades. A lot of flexibility there |

Krug has been a No for me the whole time... I'd wanna add someone younger by trading Domi/Danault/Mete
Hanifin is still an interesting choice - obie
Krug is interesting on paper but he almost certainly isn't coming to MTL so it's moot in my eyes. If he did want to come to MTL I'd take him at $7m or whatever it is over Edmundson at $3.5m or whatever any chance I can get. But he isn't so who cares. Edmundson as of now is at least a real option |

Yea it's hard to say right now, there will be lots of changes.. I'd like them to add a true top 4 LD and carry 8 D (Weber, Petry, Hanifin?, Chiarot, Romanov, Edmundson, Fleury and Juulsen)
Mete & Kulak somewhere else |

What I know today is that I'm happy with Chiarot and Romanov having spots. I'm happy with Mete and Kulak as no higher than 3rd pair, 7th/8th d or traded - open to all - EE wrote an article saying Kulak is viewed as highly valued in a trade due to his 10 game playoff and cheap contract - take the grain of salt there but it's what EE wrote. Edmundson I can at least see the logic in. Krug I can see the logic in. Hanifin I can see the logic but I'd want to know why a 2nd team has already given up on him - am I missing something or is he a victim of circumstance? Does Hanifin like museums or something unforgivable? So beyond what I know are a lot of unknowns |

It doesn't have to be Hanifin, just an example that makes sense... he was traded once as part of a pretty significant trade that brought back Hamilton, not sure it was anything to do with him particularly! But again, there's a pretty long list of players that could be looked at, doesn't need to be Hanifin

Not saying anything is wrong with Hanifin, more curious why such a high pick who has played at least decently would be moved again. The museums comment was a crack about Hamilton and the stupidity behind one of his moves. Players can be moved for legit reasons as well as dumb ones. GMs do dumb stuff all the time it's just rare we find out the stupidity behind them - like enjoying museums.
In terms of trading for a young guy, I see it being less likely because they tend to be ao coveted once they're found. I don't see Domi or Danault along with some picks and spare parts obtaining one, but I'd happily be wrong. |
