he obviously isn't getting 7M, but why would he ask lower as a starting point, since the whole point of negotiating is getting down to a number both parties agree upon

He’s not even close to 7 and I understand his negotiating point but he couldn’t bury a (frank)ing goal if his life depended on it. He’s good without the puck and we have Lehkonen and 17 other idiots that can’t score. Get what you can for him and get some scoring. If we upgrade our D then we can afford to be more offensive. I love what he brings defensively but that’s all our team is and it’s still a failure. We need to score. With Price, If we score we win.

6yrs 5.5M per sounds very decent, but yes he could very well be pushing for 6.

5.5 - 5.9 tops. I love the guy, I really do. But then you have to factor in where the team is trending and what he wants. I wouldn’t pay that for a 3C so I’d trade him tbh.

well there's a 1.1M difference there between his 7M and your offer... during negotiations they probably go by chunks of at least 200K, so asking for 7M isn't completely out of this world imo, even if he knows it won't be that number on his paycheque
