I agree that you took a swipe, just when we were ALL staying away from it, no more no less, but I finished a great Christian series on amazon called the Color of Compromise that starts with the history of North American religion from before there was Revolution. I learned a lot. - wiz1901
Not the question I asked, so thank you for proving my point.

Brodin re-signs with the Wild for $6M x 7 years starting 2021-22. There is a NMC for at least the first 4 years of the deal. - Theo Fox
@TheFourthPeriod
Brodin's year-by-year (all salary, no SB) breakdown:
Year 1: $4M (Full NMC)
Year 2: $5M (Full NMC)
Year 3: $8M (Full NMC)
Year 4: $8M (Full NMC)
Year 5: $7.5M
Year 6: $5.5M
Year 7: $4M
There is no NTC protection in the final 3-years of his deal. |

That's a lotta coin for guy who doesn't provide much offense from the back end. Guess we know Krug isn't getting 5.5M now.

You bet, Angotti. I'll do what I can to share updates and perspectives especially during the offseason.
Things will ramp up fast in a few weeks with the draft and free agency in early October.
Preview blogs for the draft and free agency starting next week. - Theo Fox

I was just going to post the same. I always thought he was kind of underwhelming from speaking with MN fans (when I was traveling for work). I never really paid much attention to him. Is he MN's version of Murphy? Steady defensively with little spark, so you don't really notice him and is underappreciated? - Chunk
IMO, Brodin is a better all-around defender than he gets credit for. Not going to win any Norris trophies but he seems reliable on both ends of the rink.
Brodie is similar but likely a notch or two below. Brodin is a #1 on many teams but Brodie would be hard pressed to be the #1 on most teams.
Either way, not that the Hawks can afford either of them or have room so as to not block paths for the youngsters but having either Brodin or Brodie would be upgrades on the Hawks blueline.

It sounds like they wanted to get a deal done so they could move Dumba? I think the hawks D is not good top to bottom, so I would be open to moving any of them depending on the return. when Matta and Koek is better then Keith murph and dehaan. |

Krug is getting Seabrook money or more. Unless the Hawks can magically eliminate about 8M in salary, We are not going to be seeing any notable FA additions. |

Several older goalies with good pedigrees on the market. - StLBravesFan
Of the top 10 available FA goalies, Lehner is the youngest at 28. Considering the glut of available FA goalies (with experience), I would guess Stan sent the offer to Crow as a "final offer". There is not a ton of money available from teams, and the ones that have it will be doling out for high end forwards and D (IMO). |

Khudobin will get a nice raise, but Dallas has the money (depending on how much it will cost them for RFA's Faksa, Hintz, Gurianov)
OOPS maybe not, they have performance bonuses of $3-$5 million, they got to sign him though, Bishop is 33 and has probably been on injured reserve as much as playing in his career. I think Oettinger needs more time to marinate in the A. |

There haven't been any contract talks between the #Flames and D Erik Gustafsson. As of now, the 28-year-old is planning on testing the UFA market next month. - Theo Fox
Stan needs to swoop in and sign Gus as soon as possible! A 3rd round pick for free plus Gus long term, great work Stan!
6 years x $4 million AAV

They really need to do something about goalie equipment.
Goalies are twice as wide as they are without equipment - how many shots are “accidentally” stopped by bouncing off the plastic, or catching the folds of the sweater?
And the gloves are way too big.
They can certainly protect the tender in net without all of that bulk.
I’m not particularly looking for more goals scored, but I’d like more goalie saves instead of equipment saves. |

Second season in a row with a mid-season replacement head coach (Bowness of Dallas) making the Final. |

Remember J-S Giguere? His equipment was ridiculously huge.

I think they should put an absolute limit on goalie equipment size, rather than basing it on the size of the goalie. If the goalie is too big to be adequately protected by the maximum allowable pad size, then he can’t play goalie in the NHL. |

Thomas Hickey did not play NHL this season. He was a regular 2018-2019 season. Hickey signed a 4 yr contract in July 2018.
This is a player maybe available cheap. I don't know his salary. Experienced veteran. Perhaps a descent third pair if you trade one of your dmen.I do not know why Trotz.went with other guys on defense. Maybe Trotz envisioned each of his dmen playing a certain way, and Hickey lost out? I don't think we can say he lost a step or anything negative. He might be worth a look. Actually what is best to know, is if a team scout saw him last season. Was he in the AHL and or injured. A Bowman type move based upon another prior move this off season? |

Agreed. Just speculating if we trade a dman, Bowman picks another one up cheap. This is insurance until a prospect is ready BUT more to do with the possibility kids won't be ushered into NHL roles should they not get some games at AHL level because AHL may not have a season |

Good grief A picture of Charlie Brown alias Elbows with his elbows covering face because he cannot stand to see more Special K. But wait Snoopy to the rescue. Alias Gus returns on a cheap one year deal. Oh no that would be good grief twice. |

Why trade for Hickey when Stan can sign Gustafsson for free. |
