Don't say that in Buffalo. They still sell "no goal" shirts. And by the rules of that year it should not have counted.

I also remember Brett Hull's interview when he said, "It's a stupid rule anyway." Don't agree with him but definitely a memorable line from Stanley Cup lore.

Just proposing exchanging 3C. Maybe Kerfoot at 3x3.5M a tad overpriced. He had an off year with Toronto last year but 2 prior years with the Avs put up 40+ points. Comparable to what Bolland and Anisimov scored when playing injury free seasons.

What would Strome cost? 2 or 3 years at 2 to 2.5M? Another 1 plus M won't make much difference.

If Kerfoot doesn't pan out, flip him at the TDL for some futures.

Remember I am in the blow it up, full rebuild mode. That's why Murphy and Strome were in my Toronto trade, getting their 1st and and a young winger in Milheyev. Toronto has to give back some salary in the trade, hence Kerfoot coming back.

Maybe Avs saw something, that's why they let him go

Yeah, Eddie showed the tape after the game. lol!
Brett Hull's left skate entered the crease just before his second shot went in..

Wikipedia:
In the third overtime, Jere Lehtinen took a shot from from the left circle that was stopped by Dominik Hasek.

- wiz1901[1] Brett Hull was not in the crease for the first shot. The rebound came near Hull's left skate, which Hull used to kick the puck to his stick, which was just outside the crease. His left skate entered the crease just before his second shot went in and ended the series.[2]

None of the Sabres players or coaches questioned the legality of the goal in the immediate aftermath. It was not until league commissioner Gary Bettman was on the ice to hand out the trophies that Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff returned to his bench and began screaming at Bettman to explain why the goal had not been reviewed. In the Sabres' locker room, players who had seen the replays were infuriated. Hasek recalled, "My first reaction was 'Let's get back on the ice.' But it's 2 o'clock in the morning and I look at everyone and it's like, 'I'm already out of my pants. It's impossible.'"[3]

The NHL had sent a private memo out earlier in the season with a clarification to the in-the-crease rule. The memo stated that if a player was in control of the puck, a skate could be in the crease even if the puck was not, and a goal in that circumstance would count.[4] NHL Director of Officiating Bryan Lewis said after the game that the goal had been reviewed, just as every goal that season had been, and the officials in the video review booth had determined that since Hull was deemed to have been in possession of the puck throughout the play, he was allowed to shoot and score a goal, even though one skate had entered the crease before the puck.[5]

What ever happened to the rumors generated by Jay Zawaski, producer at sports radio WSCR in Chicago? He was always good for some at the TDL and the during the offseason. Maybe McD was the source who is no longer available to feed Jay the info.

Talk about re-treading:

He will now be coaching his fifth team - and has been a head coach every year since 2001-02.

I guess one Cup and two other Finals in 18 seasons gets you longevity and more chances.

That still leaves Gallant in the running to coach another expansion club.

In DeBoer's press conference, no one asked about his goalie choices during the series.

on twitter some reported that Krug would not be back with the Boston and that Chicago and redwings have interest. we would have to move someone out that we are not aware of if this happened. IE Keith Murph or SAAD. that is assuimg Matta gives us cap space that we need for this year. if you could get KRUG for 4 years and $5MIL would you move keith?

I say Krug goes back home to Michigan. In the pre-covid world I would see him asking for 7 x 7M knowing this would probably be his last contract. Now all bets are off. Detroit though does have the cap space.

Maybe he and a lot of other top tier free agents will just take 2 years at a couple of million less, hoping that they can land that last big contract a couple of years down the road.

I always like how these rumors get out about multiple teams' interest in a UFA. Me thinks it's the agent putting that out to create a market for his client.

This is political pot shot I can not ignore.

I suggest you listen to Terry Gross interview /podcast

Sorry, friend, start there on a political with your discussion.

This is not the time or place for this continued irritating posts, especially when we ALL see the lies from the to top down.

and BTW, ask AL Cimiglia about how he was not allowed to ask questions after reporting opinions that questioned Blackhawk moves...the hawks didn't feed softball questions, just made sure they decided who was asking them and of course they KNEW in ADVANCE what the questions were pertaining...that is the way pro hockey and THEIR media works...

Enjoy your next indoor meeting in Nevada!

I don't think Krug is taking a pay cut, he makes $5.25 now. Probably second best UFA defenseman available (behind Pieterangelo.) That being said, I don't think that is what the Hawks need right now, a 29 year old defenseman. We need to get rid of a couple (Matta, deHaan) defernseman that make less, and let the young defenseman get their feet wet (Bovquist, Mitchell, Carlsson).

Simple for me, they just couldn't win the 2nd chance scoring opportunities like they had vs Canucks and Blackhawks and the Stars could.

and I am not so sure at this point Krug is going somewhere in the middle of a rebuild and not a true contender.

Everyone wants them some $, but these players want to win the CUP.

and I think he wants that.
