In addition to term and salary, Crawford probably holding out for a NMC so he doesn't get exposed to the expansion draft next summer. That's if he inks at least a 2 year deal.

Or better yet, hand shake deal where Crow gets x2 1 year contracts with matching AAV (or even load a little more this year), but we don't have to protect him...

Here's another scenario. Hawks have a handshake deal to sign Crawford but don't officially sign it til the 2nd day of the season.
Delia or whomever would play the 1st game.
Shaw and Seabrook would be on the opening day roster then one moved to LTIR to make space for Cro's contract.

I really can't see an NHL team agree to Crawford playing the majority of games. I think it is the Hawks or no one, or he decides he is OK with splitting time.

It wouldn't even get that far. All Dubas would hear is a dial tone.

Stan does like getting his former picks back.......

Pass

- bhawks2241

Except they didn't want him after drafting him. Its a totally one-sided deal. Kerfoot is a clear other teamism around here. Holl is a bottom pair D-man. Plus the Hawks giving up their 1st?

So much depends on if the Hawks play on the 1st day of the season. Going with a 20 man roster and some paper moves will make it easier. They also can use LTIR in the off-season if they have word that Smith/Shaw won't be cleared to start the season.

Their cap situation isn't great but it isn't as dire as some perceive it to be.

I have a thought, especially if they do not have minor hockey, name a 30 man squad (like the playoffs), and as long as on that night you stay beneath the $81.5 mil. cap with the 23 players dressed you are ok. If someone is on the IR or LTIR, you can add someone to the 30 man squad for as long as the injured player is out. This helps mitigate the flat cap for the next 3 or 4 years, without buyouts, that the owners will not want to do.

Then maybe Hawks can pick up someone's minor salary dump for a draft pick.

Not a good trade either Boilermaker - you boys don't like my trade
but I don't like your trade either

Crawford should be worth at least 5 million. the guy just won playoff hockey games for the biggest drug dealer (wirtz) in the state (country)

Season review of goalies. The Crawford-Lehner platoon was strong but was inevitably fleeting. What is the future in net for Chicago?

The Hawks are the biggest drug dealers in the world. I dont care about that, but i dont like Danny Juniors friends. He thinks these guys that employ gangster rap are cool. im against that

One other point Theo in the Crow Lehner debate, and you can see it in the series with Dallas. Crow is much better at rebound control than Lehner is
- LAHawk

Very true. There's also a difference in how they each manage odd-man breaks, 1-on-1 breakaways, and shootouts.

Theo

You have seen as much of Laakinen and Delia than anyone on this board

I see where you favor Delia. Perhaps it is his athleticism and leadership qualities which endear him as your choice among Icehog goaltenders to become the Blackhawks back up

I don't know that he has corrected holes in his game and I have no information to go on as far as he is the real deal

On the other hand I am curious if Laakinen could be a strong back up. Fundamentally strong. He did play well for Finland in the Izvestia or whatever the tournament name is.

So Theo how close is it between those two if one of
them is NHL caibre

- jhawk59

Honestly, I don't think there is a significant difference between Delia and Lankinen to say one has a clear leg up on the other.

Delia has more swagger and push back while Lankinen is smooth. Both need to keep working on rebound control but that may come with focus on tracking pucks efficiently and making economical movements.

Tomkins is rising, too. He's still 3rd string in Rockford but does show poise and good reflexes. Who knows, he could surpass one of them to 2nd string.

Supposedly, Lehner and Vegas have a handshake deal on new 5 year deal for $25 million. If Vegas loses tonight in 5 games, still think Lehner at that rate is a big-time bargain. He is only 30 and numbers do not lie, the last 2 years he has been one of the best goalies in the NHL. Fleury, I predict makes his next expansion stop and will be playing goal for Seattle next.

They should invest in a player who can put it in the back of the net. They really struggle with this when they are playing against men

Don't want kerfoot contract to long. So what would trade look like if Edmonton wanted saad? Plus what would it take to get demko even though i think Vancouver should go with demko.

Just proposing exchanging 3C. Maybe Kerfoot at 3x3.5M a tad overpriced. He had an off year with Toronto last year but 2 prior years with the Avs put up 40+ points. Comparable to what Bolland and Anisimov scored when playing injury free seasons.

What would Strome cost? 2 or 3 years at 2 to 2.5M? Another 1 plus M won't make much difference.

If Kerfoot doesn't pan out, flip him at the TDL for some futures.

Remember I am in the blow it up, full rebuild mode. That's why Murphy and Strome were in my Toronto trade, getting their 1st and and a young winger in Milheyev. Toronto has to give back some salary in the trade, hence Kerfoot coming back.

Demko had a nice few games but i just don't trust giving much for someone who just might of been hot and lucky.
