So what are you thinking nice three year deal for Martin at 2 million per? You’re cool with that?

............

I said if he signs with a team it won’t be for 1 million.
He may wind up on the Isles staff but I’m sure there’s a team or 3 that would see some positives MM brings for their teaM.
Not sure the Isles have the room for MM in all honesty.

If Lou is issuing any contracts he will ink the guy until he is 36 year old. Minimum. GM of the year.

Can’t see how we do but who knows how things will shake out between now and then? Toews has played himself into a much cheaper contract

Martin would be a good fit and the Isles cannot overpay because the Rangers have interest. Just would hate Ross having to take on Martin.
- ses111

Ironically this was the same nonsense that was put out there about Martin the last time. The Isles offered him the exact contract he got from Toronto and he turned it down. They signed Chimera and he called back b/c the Rangers and Tampa could no afford to pay him more as was rumored. .... Basically, I think that B.S. ..again

I would be fine with a 2 year $2 mill a year deal.

They have plenty of room and can make a few moves cap wise if they need to but they never have needed to... ever.

Tampa is clearly the better team. Hopefully Dobson and Sorokin are two big pieces and now Isles need to find another big time forward.

Everyone forgets how many first round picks we have fighting for spots on this team next year? You think they all are not going to pan out? Whalstrom, Bellows, Holmstrom, etc.... you think None of those are going to be legit top line wing?

I disagree... I think 1 will be a top 6 or 3 (Whalstrom would be my bet.. during the draft they talked about the guy like he was the next Ov). I think one of the others will be a very solid 2nd or 3rd line wing.

Certainly hope one of or both of Bellows and or Wahlstrom turn into top 6 fwds but that remains to be seen. It’s far from a given.

Where did I post these players will not work out? I'm hoping they work out because it's very difficult to sign or trade for top forwards. I'm ready to see what Wahlstrom can do with Barzal now.

You know me better than that. This series is disappointing but just not shocking. Is it crazy to want to see Dobson and Bellows play tomorrow? Why not give them some playoff experience at this point?

Bellows not on the trip? Have to agree Dobson is not getting in.

I think my point is that one may not work out.. but it's unlikely that All of them are busts. I gotta think 1 will be a very high end wing for the Isles in the future.

I think Bellows will develop into a very solid 2nd or 3rd line winger too. He can score.. period. That was why he was drafted that high... he is learning the 2 way game with B-port but once he gets that.. the scoring has always been there and that is the hard part. If a guy doesn't have hands to score he isn't going to learn that in the AHL/NHL. Bellows is a sniper.. I am extremely optimistic on him.

Yeah, I thought the numbers being thrown around here for him were high.
Honestly think salaries are going to have a pull back because of COVID freezing the salary cap for the next two years. But who knows.

I would and then again I would probably play Dobson as well. This is Barry and Lou so I doubt either happens.

Looks like Koivula is the only option left at forward (I'm not counting Ladd after the Game 2 try-out). Strange that we would limit our offensive bubble roster options when you see all D roster options that will/should never get a sniff of the playoffs (Aho? Hickey?). That's why it made no sense to keep both Bellow and Wahlstrom off the roster.

Some strange choices for sure. Did Barry even give a look to Aho during the regular season? The one knock I have on Lou and Barry is they seem real hesitant on young players.

I wouldn’t say plenty. I feel they can get done what they need to but the fact the cap is not going up for two years puts a wrinkle in plans all GM’s had in place. The cap alone was supposed to go up at least 2 to 3 million this year. That’s Toews contract right there which is gone so again I wouldn’t say plenty of cap space looking at the players that Need contracts for next year.

Going to be tight 7. Isles will lose some players to FA but still will not save a lot in comparison to the RFA's they need to sign. The Ladd contract really hurts.

All competitive teams in the NHL are going to feel the cap squeeze the next couple of years.

Yep! Going to be very important to be able to rely on homegrown talent.
