Same. It must have pissed Pietrangelo off a little that the Blues offered Faulk $6.5 Million X 7 (he produced all of 16 points this season two less than Justin Holl) and they left very little room for the Pietrangelo It is also interesting that the only players with significant salary that do not have a NTC on St Louis are O'Reilly and Parayko. Unless Steen agrees to retire or go to another team it will be a tough go. Dunn should be getting a reasonable raise as well.

I never understood that signing at all. It was never a good idea.

I will say that there are people with not much time left losing time with friends/family/travelling because of Covid.

But ya, pensioners have always been a political force and basically never have to make sacrifices. The wealthy pensioners tend to hide behind the not wealthy pensioners and act like they all struggle the same.

Most seniors that I know are just getting by. It’s probably different in Ontario where people are sitting on a fortune from home ownership.
I graduated in the mid seventies and faced double digit unemployment, 18 percent mortgage rates, and so many boomers looking for work that if you didn’t have connections you were screwed.

I 100% agree with this.

But I'll ask again: what sacrifices are retirees making?

- Atomic Wedgie

Retirees will be making significantly large financial sacrifices. Without hard stats (I am a math guy so it pains me to talk in these general terms) The GDP has shrink by about $200 Billion in Canada. The numbers are way higher (even when considering population) With all the debt being taken on by Government to pay for subsidies, deferrals and handouts, the GDP will likely shrink for several years. Someone has to pay for this, and it will be the folks with money, older generation, retirees and establishment. Everyone will be taking a hit, young and old.

Seems like Petro's wifes family is the important factor here...by the sounds of it.

Might not want to go all the way to Toronto, especially now.

Steve Simmons has an obvious hate for all things Leafs, especially noticeable after the heat he got for the Matthews thing.

He is starting to look really unprofessional.

#Leafs and St. Louis are talking as per source. Could it involve Alex Pietrangelo's negotiating rights? Perhaps William Nylander? Frederik Andersen? Stay tuned.

Berger isn't the best source but he is probably just stating the obvious here.

The Leafs and Blues are obvious trading partners.

The amount of effort I would have had to put in for only marginal gains in my overall average wasn't a great value proposition.
- TheMussel

I ended up with -9% in Grade 10 French. I still wonder what I could have made with my life if I had applied myself and reached -5 or even zero.'

They checked homework which I never did and deducted marks for not doing. I think it was mathematically impossible for me to pass by Christmas.

But this fits Wedgie;'s generational unfairness rant. I never finished high school, was able to get into University (not even as an adult learner) taking two courses and allowed to come back and finish if I had a B average.

Transferred schools no problem, got into a good US Masters program, worked in the States doing consulting(first wife was American) and fell into good jobs back here. Obviously, earned a good chunk of that but also obviously faced an educational and labour market totally unlike what kids face now.l

Berger is a giant pant-load. Trading rights rarely exceed a middle round draft pick.

Probably true.

Just a really closed minded individual that has no business being in the profession he is in.

He gets hits off his notoriety now.

Never got that.

Marner was overpaid a bit while fans of other teams are fine with overpaying for a 2nd/3rd liner out of FA.

Not really when its one of the best wingers in the league, at 22.

If you are going to overpay, do it to good players.

But when has there ever been 25 year olds on a list like that? I believe that young people have it hard right now. But if you want to talk hard I think the people who grew up in the Great Depression era win that award.
