We will see.
He has a young family and a wife from St. Louis. I think he really wants to stay there but has to pretend he is willing to leave to get the most out of the deal.
My guess is he eventually signs a very team friendly deal in St. Louis. But as always, I'm hoping he somehow finds his way to TO. - Leafs43
Unfortunately I agree. I feel like the Leafs never have this situation. Its (frank)ed up. |

Toughest part is that I don't have kids and don't plan on having any, so all financial motivation is basically out the window at this point and having a solid early midlife crisis in terms of career. |

Our entire house had various symptoms starting last Wednesday. Friday morning, each one of us did the Ontario self-assessment test (online) - it recommended we all go for testing.
Results took less than 24 hours - all negative.
You don't need to be off 2 weeks - go get tested, then remain home until 24 hours after your symptoms go away (assuming you get back a negative test).
And for those wondering, it didn't hurt, but it was uncomfortable. Felt like getting water up your nose - that feeling lasted about 10-15 minutes. - Atomic Wedgie
Since nobody asked, I still feel like poop.
You guys are all arseholes.

I agree that the likely scenario is him re-signing in St. Louis.
Still, I'm hopeful that he might not and instead go to free agency. And I'd hope very much that the Leafs would be all over him if he does. - GreatGigInTheSky
Same. It must have pissed Pietrangelo off a little that the Blues offered Faulk $6.5 Million X 7 (he produced all of 16 points this season two less than Justin Holl) and they left very little room for the Pietrangelo It is also interesting that the only players with significant salary that do not have a NTC on St Louis are O'Reilly and Parayko. Unless Steen agrees to retire or go to another team it will be a tough go. Dunn should be getting a reasonable raise as well.

I couldn't afford a mid-life crisis.

I think we kind of had it with Marner last year.
I really don't think he was going anywhere. I think he liked Toronto and liked his teammates. He didn't have the same family situation of course.
It just seems like we don't take advantage when we have the negotiating power.

Wedgie rant trigger warning:
I'm still quite amazed by the narrative on COVID-19 shut-downs, especially in the US.
Young people are expected to take a huge hit to their financial present and future because it's what is best for society, and more importantly, they can be carriers for the older generations - especially retirees.
OK, fine. Young generation needs to sacrifice.
What's the quid pro quo?
Baby boomers got university educations for a disgusting amount of money less, got housing for a disgusting amount of money less, got plentiful jobs with gold-plated pensions, etc., etc., etc.
And they don't give two craps about the younger generations now. "Raise my taxes to help build housing, lower tuition? Frank that nonsense - I'm retired. These kids today are just lazy!!"
I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm pro-science. I wear a mask.
But damn, if I was 25 years old, just starting out on my career (especially in the States), I'd be damn angry that I was asked to do everything for the older generation, and the older generation was happy to tell me to go frank myself in return. |

I quit my corporate job 4 years ago. Making half the money now writing. Full freedom, working 15 hours a day for a week if I want - or averaging 3 hours a day for a month if I want. Should've done it even earlier.

The amount of effort I would have had to put in for only marginal gains in my overall average wasn't a great value proposition. |

17 different NHL general managers received votes for the Jim Gregory GM of the Year Award the past two seasons.
Kyle Dubas did not receive a single vote in either season.

Glad you and your family are ok. I had to get the test after a business trip to BC to avoid beiing quarantined for 14 days. This is truly a stinker of a year in many ways. The pandemic is bad enough, the entire west coast burning makes you think we are up poop creek without a paddle. My brother's family in Victoria were told to stay indoors all day due to air quality from the US fires. Same in Vancouver I'm told. What the (frank) is next?

We have friends in Santa Cruz and Seattle.
Their Facebook photos are frightening.
Actually, check that: they are actually beautiful photos - red skies. Beautiful to look at - but it must be hell on earth to breathe in that air. |

Do you have a sign out front that says "Please, no solicitors"?
Because I would imagine you'd get people every day knocking on your door to sell you Amway products. |
