I cant see any team giving up an asset for the right to negotiate early with an aging UFA defenseman. - MBFlyerfan
No one is giving up a draft pick for a guy they can get for free. It's not like someone has to give up a pick for him before he hits the market cause there isn't going to be much of a market for him. Teams only do this for a coveted player and Braun isn't that. - Phillywhiteout
Didn't Montreal just do this?
Or was that sarsasm? Sorry, my detector is in the shop. |

I’m surprised Fletcher didn’t get more consideration for GM of the year. All of his moves seemed to pay off in some form over the course of the season. |

Looking at what the Pens/Wild trade shows about what it’s going to take to drop salary, JVR is more or less unmovable.
There is no guarantee Seattle takes him. He either rides out the contract or we’d have to take a bad contract back to trade him.
With Fletcher looking for defensive depth...what about PK Subban (with NJ holding 2 mil of salary)?
He was rumored to be a possible move per The Athletic.
It seems crazy but hear it out:
Subban had a terrible year but never really jelled with NJ. He isn’t a top pair dman, but is a RD vet that can move the puck and has playoff experience. We lose one year of JVR’s cap hit in the deal.
Ghost had his “big year” the same year Subban was up for the Norris. PK’s had a couple down years (last year being BAD) but he was one of the top dmen in the league steady for half a decade before his last big season. Not saying they are the same type of player, but look at what happened to Weber. After a couple injuries I thought that dude was DONE. He’s bounced back.
Getting Subban for your third pair/power play at a wash $ wise for a third liner PP specialist (and dropping a year of cap hit)? - Wingdestroyer
I see where you’re coming from but disagree. Nick b has struggled to produce and stay healthy. The health is the big concern there.
I have no interest in suban. I think he would hurt the development of our young guys. |

Dallas, the team that had good enough scouts that liked talent instead of goons Choose Heiskanen. Who is setting new records in the playoffs - ClaudeFather
True, Flyers goon scouts and GM didn’t take Forsberg either. European and to soft i guess on their tough man flyer goon meter. |

Anyone know what numbers farabee has worn in the past. Guessing 49 won’t stick. My guesses are 24 or 27. Don’t know why.
I think he used to wear 14 but not sure. |
