I believe Drouin was an RFA as well when he was traded... but that’s less of a gamble since he wasn’t a UFA.

I wonder how these trades for a player's rights work though, did someone from the habs' organization ask Edmunson beforehand if it was a least a possibility that he would entertain the idea of signing in Montreal? because if it's a city he has no interest playing in then this was all very pointless

I hope they did, but I like the fact Marc has ventured out to heavier teams last couple years (Jets to get Chiarot and now Edmundson who used to play with Blues ) to get more physical for defense

I don’t think they can without the current team permission. The fact that it only cost a 5th probably means that they couldn’t talk to him before the trade.

the league has changed a lot, there are way fewer fights, and smaller guys are now given a chance, but watching his team I think MB realized he still needed more size on that roster. enough with getting pushed around and not being able to retaliate loll
