straight guys talk about their wives and kids all the time. They will put pictures on Instagram, etc. They are not really hiding the fact that they are straight. Why should gay people stay quiet? Makes no sense to me.

Majority of NHLers shield their personalities and personal life during the best of times when they're comfortably straight, it must be very tough for a player to hide the fact they are Gay. They have to be careful what they say and post on Social media, and basically have to live a secret life outside of the rink so people don't know or have suspicions. I'd imagine that can get very stressful over the course of time since you're constantly in the public eye, especially in a Canadian hockey market.
The idea of just coming out should be met with open arms but unfortunately it's not always the case. As one poster mentioned, as soon as a player comes out, it's the barrage of media press, expected to tell a life story on it, bombarding other teammates with questions of "do you support your gay teammate" on a constant basis. Some guys might want to come out as Gay and just be left alone, and they know that won't happen. Tough situation to be in when it shouldn't be.

everbody knew about BRANDON PRUST and marie pier morin. Tatar on instagram has fulls of pictures of her girlfriend. But that's the norm, so it' ok for hockey culture.
