Ekblad could possibly be a very good addition, I worry about the four concussions though - he's easily worth the contract if healthy but its a big risk in my view. Dumba is nowhere near as good but might be a really good fit with Rielly. He would cost much less in a trade as well. - winsix
People overrated Ekblad big time, he's hasn't been very good and certainly hasn't lived up to the first overall pick. If he wasn't drafted so high people wouldn't even consider trading for him with a 7.5M salary |

He hasn't had one in 3 years.
I Dont think the risk is huge.
There would be at least a small risk in every D add.
Florida is loosing their entire 2nd line so something has to give there...They might value having Weegar for 3M and Nylander than Ekblad and whatever Weegar gets in a trade. - Santo_44
If Florida is looking to cut costs, its unlikely they want salary back. Maybe Nylander but not Johnsson I would think. They might want prospects or pick to round out a deal because Nylander would not be enough for Ekblad. In addition if they want to dump salary, Stralman would be a candidate much more than Ekblad

I think Nylander has more value.
And at the time Niederitter was a cap dump basically.
He was traded for another cap dump in Rask not far after. |

They save 3M dollars in a Connoly/AJ swap. That is huge savings.
Stralmen has a 16 no trade list and is owed 12M dollars the next two years...Who the (frank) is taking that in this climate? |

Dean Blundell claims they talked about Nylander for Ekblad. Ekblad is one of the very few DMen i'd consider moving Nylander for. I do think Panthers are a financial mess and may do it. - RogerRoeper
If there ever was a 'consider the source' moment required re. hockey roomers, it certainly comes after 'Dean Blundell claims...' |

Everything going on has crushed my plan to do Route 66 with my dad this fall.
We were going to go one end to the other and stay at nothing but retro hotels, check out the museums and the old Neon signs.

How? AJ makes $3.4 million Connoly make $3.5 million????? Leafs are better off signing Pysyk on a good deal give up no players and trade for another D-man with some of their assets.

The concussions worry me more than anything. One of the worst trades I recall the Leafs making was for a highly rated power forward named Owen Nolan. Leafs gave up alot and Nolan did (frank) all for the Leafs. He also had major injury issues.

That is their actual cap hits not their actual salaries.
AJ makes 3.5,2.5,2.5
AJ had a 1m bonus paid this year so it is now
2.5,2.5,2.5
Connoly makes
3.5,3.5,3.5
FLA saves 3M.

Why.. By the time you get to Cali everything should be good... I drive out to the old 66 plenty to AZ border for work.. and with a La Nina the fall should be spectacular.. Amboy / Ludlow it's a terrific time to be in the desert. - dozerD10
Border won't open to personal vehicles any time soon. |

Sounds fantastic. Only get to spend a bit of time with the old man once a year. We are both up for it, but Mom thinks it’s terrible timing.
At 40 and 70, we aren’t allowed to go.
Will try again in the spring. |

In the Leafs' defense, they signed him healthy.
They maintained he got injured off-ice during the lockout. |

Good for you. I took my son (he took me) to 3 day festival in Indio California a few years ago. I was 64 and he was 23 or 24. We kind of took turns being the one looking after the other. (We flew to LA and I did the driving to Palm Springs and to and from concert grounds)
I’m not going back to the States for a while, Covid or no Covid. Pains me but I’m out. |

Didn't miss two seasons (almost full seasons) in 1993-94 and 1995-96 with Quebec/Colorado? He also had a knee injury, leg injury, eye injury and shoulder inury in the two years with the Leafs.

See that’s the kind of time I’d like to spend with him. It’s just different when he’s grandpa and I’m dad with kids and wives running around we censor ourselves.
We both take COVID seriously, but he says he’s not going to die a hermit after working all his life. Can’t blame him. |

Whatever it is, sharing something you both dig is great. Im lucky that me and my kid both loved the same music so when this festival came up he talked me into and I won’t ever forget it until dementia next year. |

I'm very glad they didn't. Nylander would've been easily the best player in the trade.
I don't want the Leafs to trade him but if they do, I hope it's for someone better than Dumba. |

See I'm 56 with 7 kids and whenever the kids or 12 grand kids want to take me anywhere we go... Don't let this run your life.. It goes by in the blink of an eye. I've flown back east at least 8 or 9 times since March It's a little bit of a pain but nothing earth shattering...
Grab your old man and split on the down low... you guys will be fine .. and have the time of your lives doing it.. Moms will get over it.. |
