I orginally started on piano, my grandmother who was a very good concert pianist taught me an appreciation for great music, she loved Mozart, I loved Beethoven. The appreciation for music was far more important than the lessons as I completed Grade 10 at the Royal Conservatory by age 18. Any type of practicing will help, I found lessons to be helpful to eliminate bad techniques and bad habits, especially on guitar. The Beatles were excellent musicians, it didn't hurt them that while they were in Germany, they would typically play 3 sets of two or more hours a night,

Are people still doing this as often? I started on keys as well.

Guitar dudes...I have a poopty electric and amp, and I know like six chords, a blues scale and how to do E bar chords. What's the best resource to learn how to play. I like to rock and roll, I'm a punk rocker and I like reggae.

I recently learned how to play ramble on, the right way. Took me a solid month to get it to the point where I liked it. I've been playing since I was 10. I'm 53 now. So yes, some of the stuff can be advanced. I wasted so much time in my youth trying to play Randy Rhoads and Van Halen. If only I could have those hours back. I'll never play some of that stuff.
- Levit8

I started at around 41 and I’m 50...played about 6-8 hours almost every day for the 1st few years...now i play a little every night...just not enough time. I’ve been fooling with Kashmir for a bit...I need to be more regimented about how I play/practice but oh well.

Did you check out the movie Yesterday? Such a great film which begs the question, what would happen if the world had never experienced The Beatles... except for some musically-mediocre dude who plagiarizes the (frank) out of them.
- mjones242

I actually did see it, recently. Aside from being reminded about the fantastic music, I was a little disappointed in the movie itself. They took a funny/cool concept and didn't real go anywhere with it.

idk man, good young player but he's not this wonder player that all GMs view as a future top pairing d...

A good young RHD that had some success facing lower competition last season.

Lets see what the kid can do with harder mins.

- Santo_44

I mean, I guess we'll see. it was the kid's first full season in the league. He had only played in a handful of games prior, and frankly he was among their best players in the playoffs. It certainly didn't belong to their offense, lol. I'm just naturally gonna favor a young, solid defenseman on his way up over a middling winger. I think many people who follow hockey do.

And don't get me wrong, I do like Kap. Well, did. Now he's a Pen again

I'm thrilled Toronto fleeced Rutherford over that deal, for sure. Thanks again to the Leafs for that one.

I’ve just started piano (6 or 7 weeks) and am taking lessons from my daughter who teaches and is a songwriter. (She’s just starting this new gig doing custom songs for weddings and stuff).

Anyway, we’re at a point where I can do song of my choosing. I chose In My Life. She said no way, too hard. Chord structures in Beatles songs are so complex to create such simple sounding pop songs. The one song we could do is Love Me Do. Even there they do weird little things like have an odd number of chords just hanging there.

They were nuts.

This surprises me to be honest. I would not have expected them to be difficult. On the other hand, I have like no musical ability.

It’s just practice - no ability needed.

I’m astounded at how good a teacher my daughter is. She’s step daughter actually and my wife had her playing at age 3 or so. She’s done all the Consversatory training in piano, voice and pedagogy so it shouldn’t be surprising but it’s weird to be taking piano lessons (Zoom) but really cool.

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired the rights to pending UFA D Joel Edmundson from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 2020 5th round pick. #GoHabsGo #LetsGoCanes

Barrie's rights for a 4th

Think we see a lot of this...I dont think too many teams want to go into FA day with too many variables with so many budget teams.

MB really likes throwing away draft picks this offseason. First for a cap dump and now for a UFA

I don’t think it’s a fleecing. I think it’s the value of low salary dollar contracts.

What’s unexpected is the complexity of their writing and chord structures and the way the complexity of simple, pop sounding songs.

you got a 1st rounder, and one of the best players in the farm system of a completely rundown pipeline. They needed those two things. I understand Kapanen is at least a known commodity in comparison to a mid first rounder and a decent prospect, but Pittsburgh needs as many swings at this as they can get, and this appears to be a nice draft. Kapanen will help a little, but I dont care if they have two of the best players of their generation. That team needs to be looking at a rebuild sooner than later, especially with the Caps still having more talent than they do, and the Rangers, Flyers, and Canes are making strides. Plus there are still the Isles and BJs in their division. Pittsburgh needs to consider their future, and the Kapanen move didn't feel like they were doing so.

Toronto won that deal. Maybe they didn't win it as much as Pittsburgh lost it, but they did win.

Its interesting, there are truly gifted musicians but even they have to practice an absurd amount. If you truly love something, you can get good at it even without ability. Terrible cooks generally hate cooking and have never put the time into figuring out how things work.

This is a good take and an honest unbiased post. If you visit the Nucks blog, they will tell you that the Leafs unloaded a top end talent for a bag of magic beans out of salary desperation. - Thanks Carol.

The Penguins are in hardcore win now mode and is not looking to restock the farm at this point. Gotta try to win before Old Men Malkin n' Cros get too olde.

Hopefully, Kap works out for the Pens and Dubas is able to do some damage with the 15th. Hallander may end up being the sleeper bit in this trade. Here's hoping!

My view is that we won’t know this market and value of upfront salary being paid out until we see a few more of these deals. I completely agree that, in last year’s reality, this is a steal and I willing to give Dubas credit. But let’s see what some others get first. Rutherford took a chance going first in this market (I’m not sure there have been any other front end loaded players traded in Covid world). It might still turn out he overpaid

Makes sense. Would be a great trade for Philly, no doubt, but someone would be getting fired from the Leafs if it ever actually happened.

yeah, about that...

those boys have a ton of miles on them, and it's not like either hasn't missed significant time due to injury in the past. so yeah, i guess they say they want to make one last run? but they have to do it NOW. like this year, and even then the windows might be shut on their fingers

and as much as they're supposedly trying to win now, they're also shedding salary and may want to stay in the low to mid 70s?

If they do out and land a major cog in the next few months, then I get it and I'll change my mind. but as of right now, it's like they don't know what they want. they're almost talkin out both sides of their mouth

as of right now, they dont have the depth, they don't have the defense (Marino is solid, tho), and they definitely have to wonder if Jarry can handle being, as some mgiht say 'the man'. Maybe in other divisions, but not the way the Metro is beginning to shake out.
