Blackhawks prospect Andrei Altybarmakyan has a younger brother Ilya who was just suspended by the IIHF for 4 years for cocaine doping. Let's hope that doesn't run in the family.
Andrei signed a 2-year ELC in April on the same day as Evan Barratt. Both are expected to be at Hawks training camp then Rockford. |

Thinking they could get a prospect added since the Hawks dmen have term. Not a quality one but a prospect. - ikeane
Yes, either an added prospect, a high draft pick, or 2 draft picks. |

Still think trading Murphy is going get the best return back. Now i like murphy and would like the hawks keep him but Toronto needs a right handed d man desperately to play with Riley and imo be good fit for Toronto. Hawks should ask for the 15th overall pick or 2nd and hyman or johnsson. Will this trade happen time will tell but bowman should be calling Toronto. |

I think most are in agreement that Murphy would bring the greatest return of the D-men not named Keith. Part of the issue is that the Blackhawks need Murphy as much as the Leafs do. Murphy isn't a surplus for Chicago.
So if Murphy were to be traded, the other team would need to make it worth our while. Then there's also the cap implications for both teams.
Your trade proposal makes sense in that the Leafs would need to add more to the pot and not expect a 1-for-1 trade since Murphy earns anywhere from $300K to $1.5M more than possible returns, i.e. Hyman, Johnsson, Kerfoot.
The Leafs 1st rounder is too rich but the 2nd is possible. |

Like i stated i want the hawks not to trade Murphy but its depends on how desperate Toronto is. |

Is there enough space on the back of a sweater to spell out Altybarmakyan? Wonder what his nickname would be. Alty? The next AA?

RNH has AA beat by a hyphen and AA is tied with OEL again with a hyphen:
Nugent-Hopkins (14 characters)
Altybarmakyan (13)
Ekman-Larsson (13)
Marchessault (12)
Namestnikov (11)
Krivokrasov (11)
Vasilevskiy (11)
Hjalmarsson (11)
There's gotta be someone with a longer last name than RNH. |

I say the Hawks take their medicine, the young forwards and dman need seasoning so they gain experience for 2 years and after you have 4 guys coming off the books and 2 of them are a burden

But the Leafs are trying to win the Cup and the Hawks will be lucky to make the playoffs. Sell off whatever tradeable assets you have Stan and play the kids.
Shaw, deHaan Smith have little trade value. The core have NMC's. Murphy and Saad would recoup the best returns. Maybe Maatta after his decent playoff would garner a mid round pick.
What difference does it make if you miss the playoffs with the current lineup or miss the playoffs when giving others an opportunity to gain experience. Wiz had a good post earlier. If no one will be in attendance this season due to the pandemic, ticket sales won't suffer.

Perhaps somewhat off topic as far as the subject of this blog, but I just want to ask Theo and all hockeybuzz readers how they feel about attending an NHL game
I do not know if there will be an inoculation by the start of the next hockey season. I do know it takes a long period of time for society to get an innoculation just due to the huge population and getting accurate information to people. During the flu season the flu is more likely to get and people certainly will be very concerned about whether they have the flu or covid19.
So I would guess even staggered seating is too great a risk for many people who will not risk getting sick by being inside a closed stadium
But still people persist in gathering. Even some churches have services with staggered seating
In fact my niece is a college cheerleader for Iowa State and there are no fans.in the stands for the #23 rated team season opener today
And BTW Iowa State has a Qb rated sure fire #1 round draft choice in next year's NFL draft
His name is Purdy. He has a brother very talented is a freshman at Florida State with a goofy first name.
Anyway I tossed that football in because many readers here are closely monitoring the QB Bears competition
Could be the Bears are looking to draft a zQB next season. Perhaps a difference maker
Unfortunately I see good but no big difference makers for the Blackhawks in this draft.
It would be a treat to attend a hockey game next season but I will instead play it the safest way by either listen or watch a feed of the game - jhawk59
FINAL - UL Lafayette 31 - Iowa State 14.
Purdy 16 for 35, 0 TDs , 1 INT. Definitely suitable for the Bears. Lol. |

Agree to a certain extent but you don't want create a losing culture. So here is question will the hawks be able sign saad after this year and murphy the year after that? So do pull the trigger now seeing that this a deep draft or wait and see? |

I am gonna talk a long shot that someone will announce there is a vaccination, but that will simply be another lie to attempt re-election.
When a true inoculation is ready it will be after a fairly long testing period, and then don't expect it to be next to the aspirins ar Walgreens.
Every year there is tons of advertising for "We do Flu shots," but my health care provider has us wait until the REALLY current strain that is the best attempt to combat what they guess will be 'the one' THAT HITS...EVEN THEN, WE CALL, THEY SAY, NOT HERE YET, AND FINALLY IT IS READY FOR us to get the shots.
There are going to be people waiting to go to the games, like everything is done.
MY neighbors n ice went in to get here antibodies tested to donate and found out she HAD HAD the virus and was a line carrier....too and, she didn't so she didn't go to her daytime office job and here nighttime BAR job, maybe she would have infected all this people w/o knowing since she never left sick.
There are going to be people uncomfortable about large c crowds mostly because you are quickly moving through space they occupied.
Others are going to pay the odds, balance their age and the rates of severity their health and just do it, either because they are in their minds over with Covid-19, they are simply bored of their quarantines, or feel they are VERY comfortable with the chances they will not get THAT sick...kinda like Herman Cain and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Sure if you are a non smoker, good health, no peer-existing health issues, sure you may stand a better chance on not being that sick...or you may.
It is not for me to decide - I just know sports teams are going to want to open try to provide safety and open, and everyone will be aware of the chances ---
If they are not, too bad for the rest of this and expect four more years or us dodging each other in public. |

So this answers the earlier question a bit differently ... a team can trade the right of the UFA prior to free agency period too.

Good call on both!
I couldn't find any images with Letourneau-Leblond on the back of an NHL jersey. He went with just Leblond.
Someone tried to do a jersey mock-up trying to fit in his entire last name.
And apparently he's now a realtor!

True. If that's the direction of the team, then by all means trade your best assets (Saad, Murphy) to get favorable assets for the reboot. Just not sure if that's the direction they're going. |

If we are going to trade young talent with reasonable contracts then what's coming back better be very very good, otherwise screw that. |

The difference is the Leafs are trying to win now, the Hawks are hoping to make the playoffs. Plus, some of the vet D are going to have to go somewhere if a couple of the young D pan out. |
