Add coots to Greg trade now list. Value at all time high. Time to turn roster over and build around the young pieces. Before you no look to the future people get all hyped up think about it. While coots is somewhat still on younger side he has played an extreme amount of hockey and his decline will come faster than normal. Plus his contract up in few years and gonna want huge $. Which would be a mistake to give. So what could we get in trade for him.

Seems like it’s a bit easier to get what you want by just following another team with different players?

Coots will be the new g/Jake in 3-4 years from now. Bank on it. And you laughers will be saying we should’ve traded him [url]

A worse team is what you would get from trading Couturier. His contract might be the best value in hockey. So even if you get a comparable player you will likely take on salary which would hurt your ability to sign other players.

I cannot think of a scenario in which it makes sense to trade Couturier this season.

Thanks Bill! Congratulations Coots! Well deserved! So, In regards to Chuck Fletcher’s interview I thought it was interesting that he mentioned the lack of production from the bottom 6. Umm, I know JVR was in that group, but aside from Hayes; G, Coots, Jake AND TK are our top guns and they didn’t perform well! No offense but, I wasn’t expecting Pitlick, Thomson, Grant, Ralf etc, to be my leading goal scorers in the playoffs! Come on man!! Don’t let the top guys off the hook!! They tried, yes, but they were outplayed and our coaches were out coached!

You know, I was going to say the same thing about trading Coots now that he won the Selke. His trade value wouldn't be any higher. But........

I would have been being sarcastic.............

Trade to Ottawa. They have 3 high picks. They need a center. Take a pick and couple prospects. They’re loaded with prospects

I like what I hear from Fletcher. I thought he nailed every question and I'm pretty positive he will make the right decisions moving forward (such as not trading a core player). The key question is how Dave Scott will impact the decision making going forward.

Also from Fletcher regarding Nolan Patrick's migraines and possible connection to concussions: "Well, there’s lots of different opinions. I don’t even know how to answer that. Everything could be connected. It may not be connected."

Bill, in your opinion, is this a change from what was said before in that it could have a connection to concussions?

Good point about the bottom 6 with the way the top 6 produced. Although I don't agree that the coaches were out coached.

I'm sure Boston is happy they traded Bergeron in his prime.

I agree. When the Flyers handled pressure properly they were fine. When they started turning the puck over left and right they were not good. Coach is not telling them to turnover pucks. The coach isn't telling them to lose 50-50 battles virtually every game of the playoffs.

I think you could bring in a cheap vet to play as a depth defenseman but how good wold that player actually be? I'm not enthused by a Haag/Freidman pairing.

Again, I don't know if Montreal would be willing to deal Domi for Gostisbehere.

- MJL

You said before and I agree it comes down to multiple things. If someone is traded or others not retained. If ghost is trade and Braun isn’t retained they could maybe. Key words. Get a vet that has something to prove or take a lesser deal to compete. If that’s the case and people want to replace ghost with offense as Haag will be retained (guessing). Then I could think shattenkirk or Barrie type.

Lots of ifs though. If ghost is trade maybe it’s for a d man like him them at the previous team soured on.

Fletch said he wanted d depth so I can’t see is going crazy. And a ghost trade could help open up further cap room. But I think it’s 50-50 he stays.

If you mean go for cup then yes 100% I abandon the next few seasons. Look at these playoffs. We aren’t close at all to contending. Stay pat and do nothing and many teams gonna pass by us. I’m not saying tank or trade young guys. I said it was a 10 year rebuild when hexy took over. Had to be. No way redoing WHOLE system top to bottom is less than 10 years. We have really nice YOUNG pieces and still some coming. I get trying to win some now. Like the nisky trade to help young d out but getting bruan too and sacrifice pick to try to win now was dumb. Add moves like that year after year and we’ll be right back in same boat as 5 years ago. To take it a step further if we traded g Jake ghost coots we’d get cap relief high picks and prospects. That frees up $ to plug a few bets in short time for now or possibly get a piece like we did hays for the future. To go further in 3-4 years probably will need to package some of these young guys to put roster over the top. Look at how hexy won cups in la. They took 10 years to build it and rolled roster 3 times.

No thanks to Barrie. I have no idea what Shattenkirk would sign for and maybe he would come cheaply. All things considered, I'd rather just keep Gostisbehere.

Depends how they’d want to go. Could go pick and prospects or prospects and picks or young player on cash strapped team. Many options. As long as it’s younger and for the future

Bergy in his prime also had pasta Marchand a complete d and 2wxcellent goalies. Different story. Our team isn’t in that position. Not now as proved by these playoffs. Thinking this team is anywhere near cup contenders is just not true.

YwH. Maybe he will be loaned to a European league.
