It seems they don’t agree with you on that. From what I have read (and I’m sure you have heard the same) they don’t mind the idea of Patrick being a winger?

I certainly don’t have a finger on the Teams’ pulse like you do Bill, but the narrative could be read as the Flyers not being “STOKED” on Frost. He has obvious issues they want fixed. If they can get immediate help at the center position by trading an asset like Frost along with Ghost to improve now...that seems like something that could benefit both trade partners

- Wingdestroyer

You might want pay attention to the 9 second mark of this video. Then watch the rest of the video to see the potential Frost has.

Grant played for the NHL minimum this season and produced 15 goals and 25 points in a bottom six role between the Ducks and Flyers.

Unfortunately, he was one of the guys who wasn't able to recover in the Bubble what he had done before the pause. Go back and watch the Flyers game in Washington and the b2b with the Rangers after Grant came over. Even apart from putting up points, he won a lot of battles. In the playoffs, he didn't add much of anything except for a few plays/isolated shifts.

It is going to be a tight squeeze in the FA market this summer. But even in that market, Grant should be able to land a contract somewhere at a raise. He won't make the minimum again.

- bmeltzer

That's why I believe the Flyers will be priced out on Grant.

That is great. he had a career year at age 30 after being a tweener for how many years.

Fact is he did squat in the playoffs. Is very slow and didn't offer much at all. You walk away. Dime a dozen player

Guys like him do not warrant multi year deals or much more than league min.

Oh i get it. I wonder this year if there will be a lot of guys that have to make the "money or winning" decision. With the cap not moving, guys could maybe get more money and bigger role going to Detroit, but maybe they take less and sign with a contender.

Couturier received top-five votes from 163 of the 170 voters.

Not advocating for him to be re-signed. Just saying he will find a new deal somewhere and will get a salary bump based off his regular season.

Larsson, 6 goals, 12 assist, 18 points, 1.4 million

Grant, 15 goals, 10 assist, 25 points, 700k

Not sure how that says he is simply a better player.

I think it’s super telling that fletch said he won’t be active in the fa market. Wise approach look for a solid hockey trade and hoard your picks. If anything we need to shed salary with jvr.

Bill,

There isn't any chance they can get someone like Peitrangelo can they, if they move out Voracek or JVR? Right shot, top pairing guy to play with Provorov.

Or would you make a play for Dougie Hamilton? His name always seems to be out there. That one would take picks and players.

I don't see the Flyers being able to afford Pietrangelo or acquire Hamilton.

I get it, I just disagree as with the economic climate the way it is he will get squeezed out imo. Will he get a few hundred exta K, yes probably but I don'tsee much more than 1 million

he doesn't seem to look at the whole picture. Like there are reasons, myself likes a guy like Domi. Brings speed and skill and some tenacity. Can play center and wing. Might not be super expensive as he is coming off a down year and with the cap the way it is might take a 2 year deal and then can go for a bigger pay day if the cap starts to move again.

Larsson doesn't do anything for me.

The flat cap will make free agency interesting for some of these guys who arguably deserve a raise (imo). We may see a drop in over payments. Forget where I saw this, maybe the Athletic, but it will also be interesting to see free agent players with families and how they decide WHERE to sign. Will this pandemic play a factor in where someone feels “safe” to sign? Will a feared 2nd wave prevent players from signing in areas that have had high cases?

What does Larsson bring me that makes him such a better choice. Just say you are right and he is BETTER. If anything he is just incrementally better.

No matter who I name you will disagree. So I am sure you can find someone on that list who is affordable and a better option

I don't see Harry Zolnierczyk's name on that list. So there is no better option available.

Show me where I've said he is or isn't a better player?

Why is he a better player?
