Because they belong there and Danault does not - obie
so let me get this straight,
Danault is better than them at 5x5, he gets more points than them at 5x5, (while they often play with better players) but Danault is not good enough to play on the PP while they are?
More questions created by answers. Mostly questions about the contents creator. That said I watched it all the way through which is more than I can say for the majority of those posted on here.

Dude if you believe Danault is a player who should be used regularly on the PP, you have much bigger issues than what I think
He's competitive and what he said was normal. - WaterBoy
Normal? He tried to dictate his use in a contract year through the media...
People are going on about Domi not wanting to play the wing, he never said it publicly himself but everyone sh!ts on him because someone said that he might of said he prefers C
So for the record, on September 11th at 2:06 PM there is still no consensus amongst Habs fans as to whether to keep Domi or Danault. Shocked! Shocked I say

Yea cause scoring depth is not important - obie
you do realize that Danault had more points than Domi (47 vs 44) last season.
and btw Danault had only 4 PP pts vs 11 for Domi (who played alot more PP minutes than Danault)
need a shovel?

You believe Danault has more offensive upside than Domi?

I have no freaking idea what to do. No idea what would be Danault's demands salary wise.
As for Domi...well, I liked 72 points Domi. The Domi from last season, not so much. Always went in the offensive zone trying to deke everyone. He would only pass the puck when he had no choice and more often than not it was a bad pass and created a turnover.
Still, Domi is a better offensive player than Danault, and Danault is a perfect 3rd line, occasional 2nd line center that can shutdown, play on the PK and provide a little offense here and there. He's a more complete player.
It's up to Bergevin to find out what he wants to do, if he feels Suzuki and Kotkaniemi are ready for bigger roles, what would fetch a better return, what makes more sense long term, etc.

pretty simailar imo. he is more consistent. a lot more consistent. and that to me is more important. we know what we're gonna get with Danault. Domi... 1 good year, 2 bad ones, 1 good year 2 bad ones...
and again, you will send Domi to take an important faceoff to protect a lead? come on, be serious.

Yup.... we know Danault is gonna get 13 goals tops!! You can sell that as being consistent all you want!

My thoughts are similar. Contract demands should play into this decision. If all is equal or close on contracts I likely lean towards Danault because he brings something the rest of the group doesn't and can be used to put Suzuki and KK in advantageous matchups. Too much unknown to have a concrete opinion on it. What I will say definitively is that as a Habs fan it's a new and awesome problem to have for once compared to the misfits I've seen down the middle the last 25 years or so

Danault is a good player, but a big part of why the Habs failed to make the playoffs the last two seasons is because he's this team's number one center (not his fault).

voilà. give me the 72 pts Domi day in day out, and that's another question.
but that was 1 season. 1.
like you said, Danault is the perfect guy for a 3rd line (part time 2nd). it is not even close.

Not his fault but that doesn't mean they should pay him like a top 6 C

By the by...Stone and Point also had more even strength points than Danault
