What if Henrik would allow a trade to Calgary, and if Stevie Y became the middle man in the acquisition. NY trades King Henrik to Detroit w/ the Canes 1st and $3M retained for the Caps 2nd. Stevie turns around and trades Henrik to Calgary w/$2.5 retained for say Sam Bennett and a 6th. The King would cost only $3M for 1 yr - HenryHockey
The idea that Lundqvist is going to play for anyone besides the Rangers is laughable. He's either playing for the Rangers next year or retiring after they buy him out.
Why would he want to play for Calgary? I could see him maybe willing to play for Edmonton because of the McDavid factor or even Toronto.
He's 38, has made more than enough money, and loves living in New York. I'd put my money on retirement, especially considering they might try and do a season long bubble.

Carrying this over from the last thread... cause I like a debate:
He has been a 30g 80p guy exactly 1 time. To call him that is false.
He has also only scored 30g 3 times out of 7. So to say he is a 30g scorer more times than not is also false.
To say he has that potential and could be, that is fair. He has done it, so there is no reason to believe he cannot again, while he is still young. But to say he is a perennial 30g 80p guy is wrong. Which is what the post contended. He is a 29g 76p guy at this time in his career. Riding the coattails of Jenny's best years and juiced by one great year.
Fair to say Sean is a fringe 30g 65p guy. Which isn't bad. But not 1st line production. Sean is a good player, but shouldn't be considered a 1C on about any team. But as a 2C with PP time he is acceptable or better. - wreckage
And where stats don't tell the whole story - 2017 was pretty much the worst year of his career - and we found out after the season the dude needed wrist surgery. Not great, but put home 27 in 82 with a wonky wrist. Also did that while having to carry Brouwer on the PP and 1st line for huge chunks of the season.
2017/18 comes along and after the season is done, dude needs 4 surgeries. Still puts up 64 points in 74 games. Think a healthy Mony doesn't avg a point per game that season?
He fell off a cliff this year, along with Johnny for sure. Nothing to suggest he can't get back to where he was in 2017/18/19 where a healthy Mony spurred by a decent JG, scores 30 a season and nets better than a point per game average.
He's not McDavid. He doesn't have MacKinnon's skill set, but he's been as regular a point producer as you can expect out of a 1C. It's the other parts of his game that need development and he took some strides this year there as well. He's a 1C on a bunch of teams in this league, just not an elite top 5 guy. |

Also @wreckage - do a really quick math formula for me:
(194 goals / 541 games) * 82
Tell me what you get. |

Yeah Lehner, or Kemper. Not feeling either "the king" or MAF... we don't need past-their-prime goalies who cost too much. I agree that Lundquist will probably retire a Ranger anyways. |

When are Leaf fans going to understand that Andersson is an untouchable a player as any on the Flames. You overpay if you want him. - LittleBroDougie
He doesn't play for Toronto, and therefore sucks. Of course, that doesn't mean the fanbase can't run him out of town if they do end up acquiring him. |

I say the only way you trade Monahan is if its for a legit 1C.
As far as the Barkov - Monahan comparison there is a lot more to look at than just points. Barkov is a really well rounded player with a legit 200 foot game that drives play. Monahan has a great release and is starting to play with some grit but lost his mojo with JG.
Barkov gets votes for the Selke.
Flames have not had a legit 1C since Joe Nieuwendyck. Since the (frank)ing 80´s.

Best player available at 19. If our scouts have him rated as the best guy you pick him. At 19 we likely wont see this player in our line up for 2- years anyway so definitely BPA.

Best player, not best goalie. The Flames don't need to burn another high draft pick on a goalie, especially not a Russian goalie. Russians and Alberta don't mix.
I think there's a pretty decent chance the Flames trade their first this year.

Top six forward, top 4 defence, starting goalie. If they want to try and win this year, they need at least one more solid piece.
Columbus probably wouldn't do it but trading the first for Josh Anderson could work out pretty well for the Flames. |

To: CALG
Andersen (only owed 1 mil this yr on 5 mil cap) + Kerfoot (3rd line C)
+ Liljgren Top Prospect R Def) + 2020 4th, 6th, & 7th rd pk.
To: TOR
Andersson (Top 4 R DEF) + Bennett (3rd line C) + Rittich (cap dump)
+ 2020 3rd pk.
Based on Andersen signing 5.00 x 4 w/ CALG - paulozz

Makarov says hi.
Never have enough goalie prospects, Flames have been terrible at drafting goalies and he’s being compared to Price, so not too shabby. Perhaps part of our goalie woes is Siglet. |

Monahan top goal scorer from his draft class. That’s not easy to replace. He’s 25, signed for 3 more years at a reasonable price, only got room to grow. |
