Apparently Granlund doesn't play center much at all and Haula is Bjugstad 2.0 hasn't even played 82 games over the last 2 seasons, and has never played a full season, so I guess neither. But if you had to take one I'd take Granlund.
- 668710

Bruh. Haula had a brutal knee injury in Vegas and had to be stretchered off. This past season he banged up his knee and had a lot of other off ice issues. He’s nowhere near Bjugstad territory.

I think he needs better D in front of him. Look at his save percentage with jj/schultz on and off the ice. I bet MM goes anywhere decent and his numbers go up as a result of less anchors in front of him. Jarry plays with the same top 5 of 6 and his numbers are poor and everyone freaks out about us should of kept MM

This goes for most goalies. Their stats are related to the teams play in front of them. I will say though, when the Pens were really playing at a high buzz saw clip in November and December, Murray wasnt that good if I recall correctly. Its possible I'm thinking of season before, this fvcked up upside down year of 2020 has my sense of time shot.

Try to trade Murray tied with Jacko's contract (or just buy him out or send to the minors);
Trade Hörnqvist and give Aston-Reese or Simon if needed in order to make it work.
Sign Barrie to a prove me deal.

Guentzel - Crosby - Sheary
Zucker - Malkin - Rust
McCann - Bjugstad - Kapanen
Tanev - Blueger - Simon
(Lafferty-Miletic)

Dumoulin - Letang
Pettersson - Barrie
Joseph - Marino
(Riikola-Ruhwedel)

Jarry
(DeSmith)

Just a sketch of a faster and hungrier team, not looking at lefties or righties for now.

Barrie had 39 points in 70 games. I dont think every GM in the league will believe he has to prove much. He's a 40 to 50 (maybe more) point right handed D-man aka a highly sought after commodity. He will get a nice contract somewhere IMO.

He sucked badly in Toronto though. He strugled. Ask any Toronto fan who actually watched him play. They don't want him back...
Keep in mind he played with great players.

Dont pay any attention to Leafs fans hahaha...I have so many close buddies and family members that are. They hated Jake Gardiner solely because of giveaways in a game 7 vs the Bruins, when he was a very big plus to their on ice product most nights. They overreact when their team doesnt win the cup. They would pound their chests about their teams and players even in the middle of not being in the playoffs for like 9 years. Ive seen 8 of my Leaf fan buddies sharing a story about Wayne Simmonds wanting to be a Leaf next season and all of them thinking thats a good idea hahaha.

Barrie had 39 points (highest of the D on Leafs) in 70 games getting the most ice time among their D. In all situations he was their best xGF%, CF% and HDSC% (above 50% at 5 on 5 in all) defencemen this past season. He's still a very good fast skater and did I mention he's right handed? He's getting paid.

Do you want Granlund or Haula for 3C assuming both get the same contracts?
- Hockey66

I am very interested in Huala on a 1 year deal. I think this is a great year to buy in free agency as teams are not going to be dishing out fat contracts, especially for guys who are not elite level.

hahaha all their lives then. 1967.

A good buddy of mine said Gardiner was better than Barrie in his stint.

Simmonds a good idea? Rough to hear lol

The night of the period 3 collapse in game 7 vs the Bruins they had a 20ish car parade set up in the 2nd intermission to go driving around our city with Leafs flags and sh!t blowing their horns when the Leafs won and moved on hahahaha I still grill some of them about that.

Gardiner was with the Leafs like 6 or 7 seasons and Barrie just the one. Gardiner only ever hit 50 points once and that was in a full 82 games. Barrie has been pretty much a 50 point guy every season, almost 60 in some, and usually in less than 80 games including 57 points in just 68 games two season ago.

Ottawa would be a great team to trade for Murray.

Murray and JJ for Ottawa's any 2nd round pick

JJ replaces Borowiecki and provides leadership. (Plus their cap is pretty low) and they get a strating Goaltender.

This is exactly what i said 2 weeks ago! 40-60 pts for 6 straight years, and hes 28. Say what you want about his D, but i think if hes available for a price under around 6M, you go for him. I would still go for Krug first, so we have a strong LD for Marino to play with. But other than that, id be going hard after Barrie.

Clashed with Brind'amour a lot too, which didn't help.

But aside from that his wife had a miscarriage. Rough year for them.

I'd say yes for both players, Krug or Barrie. Hopefully we can trade Hörnqvist and Jacko to allow us to go after one of those guys.

Actually this may increase the chances of Botts coming back. Karmanos previously occupied the organizational position Botts would likely want if he came back, by shuffling Karmanos laterally to WBS GM it opens up the spot of Rutherford’s day-to-day right hand man. Obviously Botterill occupied both positions when he was here, and that may be the plan for Karmanos as well, but I can see how this could be an effort to open up room for a Botts return.

Biggest knock on Gardiner now is he's not worth his contract now, and is a ghost of his former self post back injuries.
