Vegas can trade, eat 50% and buy that part out it would cost them very little. They would be making that money back and then some by signing fatso cheap at $5m smart move.
- rpeters01

yeah, I read all the articles about fat ass Lehner signing for 5 mil b/c it would be long term.

Why, why why would he not wait and test the market with Colorado seeking a goaltender, and can pay more for long term and also be a up and comer?

Hold on to your butts: Pierre LeBrun reporting that Colliton may be close to a contract extension. He is entering the final year of his current contract.

NBA announcing the earliest they will start the 2020-21 season is Christmas Day. Not too surprising as they traditionally have start a month later than the NHL.

Maybe the Hawks want certain players to waive their NMCs.

Rutherford's initial asking price for Murray is a 1st rounder. He wants to get that pick back after trading his 1st to Toronto for Kapanen. Maybe he'll eventually get it back in a trade with the Leafs.

Edmonton, Calgary, Colorado and Carolina probably want a goalie upgrade. Edmonton already said no to giving up their 1st. Don't think Murray will be going within the division to the Hurricanes.

I dont know if that old trade inside your division moré applies like it used to with the Cap stepping on each team's payroll.

But let's do an mental exercise here. Hawks offer Crawford a deal and for whatever reason he says I want to wait.

Rutherford has made it clear he want Murray as his goaltender on the market listens to all the offers, and before he decides, the Hawks offer a #1 and Brandon Saad, and whatever else they need to to seal the deal.
They bring up ONE of the Rockfords and make it a competition because now, they dont have rot make a verbal about games played that Crawford clearly mentioned he was looking for since he didn't want to be backup gain like he started when Lehner came on.
Murray get traded, loves the city, lover the facility, loves the organization, but tells his agent I still want to use my RFA arbitration to seals this deal.
An arbitrator is assigned and that non hockey person decides what the hawks pay him right away.
I think the hawks could make the deal a wait and see deal of one year, and hope that Delia IS an NHL workhorse and an an NHL goalie (since he didn't prove it in his competition with Anton Forsberg has last try) and simply let Murray go...

So did you just carp two assets on a rebuilding club?

I think they are going to try to get Crow to stay with a minimum two year deal, and use the time to see if Delia is the answer, if not try Kevin the next year as the back up and see if he is.

Then if things are tanking as they keep adding home grown guys at the other positions, they go free agent/ trade for average workhorse goalie, not necessarily one with upside, just with experience.

I think they hold him in high regard as there isn't a reason to think with what he was given to expect more than they produced.

I'd consider trading Dcat for Danault (if allowed to negotiate an extension).

I thought the reason Danault is upset is because he is back being a #3 center as Suzuki and Kotkenemi are now #1 and #2. Do you think he would be happy being #3 in Chicago, and what money is he expecting?

I think it makes more sense to go younger than PD. he fits better on a team in the now window.

If he actually signed, I think he just wants to be loved. I doubt in flat cap land there's much more to be had out there? Remember he had an offer from the Islanders last year, tried for better and they pulled the offer.

They could get Q cheap next year after he gets fired with multiple years left on his deal.

Why? What has he done that deserves an extension?

He must honestly be a big kiss a** to the folks in the front office. That is the only thing I can wrap my head around.

That or he is a quiet a talker/presenter and has sold the front office on his "vision" and "system".

This better not become like the Bulls where it is just a circus of yes men coaching.

Actually wouldn't mind him coaching Dach. Maybe he could drill into Nylander's head too.

I wouldn't have to watch the 4th line get ozone starts or see Strome get a bunch of dzone starts.

Noooooooooo!
Seriously, if the Hawks do this, they are on the verge of becoming the Bulls. The guys with rings will look to go elsewhere, and start waiving their NMCs.

I guess I can always become a Kraken fan.

Fair point. The Hawks could potentially sell it as the top 3 centers getting roughly equal ice team and special teams opportunity, with a planned transition toward Toews in "3C" role and PD as 2C with Dach 1C. From some of what I read, the issue in MTL was the lack of communication and lack of the other two earning the spot away from Danault.

what type of sweetner would it take to trade smith at 50% retained? Dylan sikura and a cheap bad contract? IE one less then 1.1 that you can buy.

That's what I'm thinking, too. If the Hawks want to pursue Danault, they have to sell the situation to him or else he's essentially running into a similar issue in Chicago as Montreal. What you outlined is how I would more or less sell it to him.

Why would you trade a player in his off year scoring 18 goals, for a player that over his career has never scored more than 13? When Danault's contract is up this year, he is going to make at least $5 mil., so you are not going to be saving much in cap space

Danault wants more of an offensive role. Yes, he would get PK time, but even if Toews is a "3"c, he still would be on the PP before Danault. Also, currently the Hawks have (at least in numbers), strength at center and are weak at the wings.. I assume trading DCat means you are signing Saad, which is iffy. If you lose both, that would mean you have no left wingers that are remotely close to top 6 material (unless the lights go on in Nylander's head).

Fleury (50% retained) , Krebs, and Brayden McNab for Shaw and Malcolm Subban

- LAHawk

Yes to that trade all day long but don't think vegas would that maybe add prospect or low draft pick along with shaw's contract and subban.

Seen the light flash on and off. We know there are lights that work.

I think it is more a battery problem with Nylander.
