Could the Habs use their cap space to target some restricted free agents this coming offseason? - Karine Hains
He might as well piss off another owner and gm, lord knows how many he pissed off with that Carolina debacle.. |

your time and reputation might be my guess. Then again, it's in the cba. - deadpoulet
I was also wondering if it could impact your reputation but apparently other GMs are totally fine with it. maybe they're all lying and hiding an unwritten rule, who knows...

As for Sergachev, we know that the Canadiens like him, they drafted him after all, but considering how important he has become for the Lightning, I very much doubt there will be anytime to make an offer sheet. I expect he might just be priority one for the Lightning’s GM once his team is out of the playoffs or raises the Cup.
the habs liked him but still traded him to another team... even if MB did send him an offer sheet wouldn't he just burst out of laughter? lol - Pat1993
lol maybe, or he’d sign it and use it to force TB to give him the money he wants like Aho did but as I said in the blog, I really don’t see MB going down that road 2 years in a row...offer sheets are once in a blue moon type of things... |

GMs get mad when you make an offer that’s way above market price and send the market rocketing, Bergevin didn’t do that with Aho, he offered an amount that fit the market hence why it was matched and no one got annoyed (oh dear I said hence...Pie is gonna get mad again) |

There is much speculation that room will be made for Cirelli by pushing out Tyler Johnson, even though Tyler has an NTC. It seems he is seeing a lot of 3rd and even 4th line duty already, whereas on most teams he would be a 2nd line center. A team that is weak down the middle, like NY Rangers for instance, would be very interested in him. Of coarse the Rangers have cap problems too......So here is hoping where Stevie Y can do some magic and help his Red Wings strengthen their sagging middle! Maybe Tyler will waive his NTC for his old boss and immediately have a spot on the Wings second line. |

makes sense. and if it's something that really bothered GMs that much they probably would put pressure to change the rules, or get rid of offer sheets altogether.
and if Pie gets mad just let him cool down on a window sill |

I’ve had Johnson on my fantasy league in the past and his production really took a hit when the triplets line was dismantled... Kucherov and Palat kept going but Johnson has had a rough go of it... Might be how they try to make room, interesting idea. |

With that heavy contract, a full no mouvement clause and that injury history? Somewhat doubtful lol |

why is it so rare then? How do you explain that one? If it would be a good way to improve your team, I think we would see more of them.
I think you either have to offer not that much $$, then it's match, or you offer too much, you lose a lot of assesets (picks) that hurt your team and you end up with an overpaid player on your team. That would be my guess, the way the system works right now. |

yeah looking at the history of offer sheets in the NHL you can see the current trend is that teams always match the offers, which wasn't necessarily the case in the past...

last "successful" offer sheet was Dustin Penner in 2007 lol
