Supposedly VAN still intends to re-sign Markstrom and Granlund will test FA.

You might recall the Sens didn't have Crosby, Malkin and Guentzel.

They were a bottom feeder in Karlssons last season there, they got a massive haul and he has not been good (his standard) or healthy since getting to SJ.

If the Leafs offered Kerfoot, Liljegrin, the #15 and a 2nd id take it all day... for the record Ottawa got much more than that.

Im not saying they didnt get a good return, im just saying they are still a bottom feeder, by a significant margin (in a normal year). so i have a tough time saying it worked out for them. but i am also willing to give them another 2 years to see if it really worked out.

So far DeMelo and Tierney worked out pretty good. But obviously this deal will he judged more on the futures. Norris, who might be their best prospect, and the 3rd overall pick are the biggest parts of the trade and like you said those can't be judged yet.

Considering the haul they got and how Karlsson may already be declining due to injuries, I'd rather have Ottawa's end. Had the Sharks won the Cup last year, maybe that changes

By the time they traded him, trading Karlsson was the right move. What Ottawa flubbed was building around EK. They got to the point where the era came and passed so a rebuild was necessary.

Something I didn't realize until now while reading Marshall's article on Kapanen (and think others stated incorrectly) was that he just turned 24 in late July, so we actually have control of him for 4 years and not 3.

And no, I don't think that means he was worth our 1st, though I'm excited to add him.

I just dont see how the next season starts with our border closed off. There's no way 31 teams are coming up here to stay in a season long bubble haha. Our own lone MLB team wasnt allowed to play here in Toronto because we wouldn't let the USA teams come and go, but one team without a home was manageable for MLB. NFL has zero Canadian teams, so they're good to go. NHL has 7 Canadian teams. I dont know.

How’d the MLB do it? We’re the Blue Jays just excluded?

I'm not a huge baseball guy, but like any sport, I watch if its on around me and try and watch when its playoffs. As far as I know though they're playing most, or all, of their home games in Buffalo....and are climbing the standings.

Be careful, Detroit wouldn't even have a hockey team if not for its proximity to Canada. If the border is shut down they might relocate to Windsor.

I like his game. If the Pens move one of McCann, Bjugstad or both, I like him as a 3rd line LW.

It really depends on the Pens' plans for McCann and Bjugstad. It's likely at least one is going, possibly both. If one of them stays they're likely to play 3C. He's a solid player with some grit to his game. I think he'd be a nice addition. He shouldn't be expensive to extend.

I floated Foegele the other day. I'd be happy with that deal. He's not a game changer but I doubt we get a top prospect from anyone...and I don't want a pick.

I'd prefer to package Murray for a 3C ... but even though he's not really a need... I like the idea of just going all in on speed/youth. I can live with McCann at 3C if he has the right linemates.

Foegele-McCann-Tanev/Horny/Lafferty wouldnt be a big scoring line but at least be difficult to play against....and at the very least better than that turd sandwhich 3rd line we used last year.

Also opens up the possibility to deal other pieces.

letang is easily the most overrated D-man in the NHL he didn't deserve last season All-Star invite and since his return from the cup victory in 2017 which we wasn't a part off the penguins record in the post-season has been downright scary. He is a whiny entitled yapper out there here really is more of a bad apple than kessel was in that lockerroom and we know sully isn't a fan of his game.

Trade him at 33 years old making 7.25 penguins probably are stuck with him and johnson on the blueline that will only equal more gray hair for HC mike sullivan
