Really poopty that Benning put the organization in that predicament. Our prospect pool isn’t that strong anymore with Petey and Hughes becoming full time NHL players, we can’t afford to bleed assets.
- Pacificgem

Many GM's end up with those hard to move contracts and spend assets to move them.

We can definitely afford to be spending assets. I just don't really think we need to this year, unless it is to upgrade positions. I see us saving JV's potential cap by trading him and playing Zack Mack instead. I see Roussell being moved for an asset, and then that asset(or similar) to move bearschi. Bearschi may not be worth anything, but he is a warm body that can play in the NHL.

But we don’t have to wait, that’s what World Wide Web internet opinion boards are for, to express your opinion

That is fine . I think one or two players will be moved but probably not the same one or two you are thinking of.

I 100% disagree, the Canucks are in no position to bleed assets.

Apparently Benning tried to add Baertschi into the Toffoli deal and LA told him to get bent

This year, we don't need to clear much in the way of space. Removing Bearschi won't cost much, and Roussell should be worth an asset. That isn't bleeding. Next year we need to dump LE, but it won't cost what Marleau cost. The Marleau trade was specifically to be bought out. LE will cost less because his 1m actual salary with 6 cap hit may be worth something to teams looking to save some money these next few years.

No...I said Benning can’t afford to move assets to get rid of them. I actually think two guys will get moved, Virtanen and Stecher.

Not surprised. I said from day one Baertschi was a really bad contract. Fully against giving him more than 1.2 mil

This year is different. 3.36m cap hit with 2.4m salary. Again there are teams that will want to save actual money on their cap hits. He won't cost much to dump.

Even Jim Benning isn’t dumb enough to spend assets (I hope) to get rid of the Eriksson, Beagle or Roussel contracts, unless he added someone like Jake Virtanen? But then he’s giving away a good young asset that could bring back draft picks, to cover up his mistakes, which is foolish. We shall see how it plays out.

With a lack of centre depth in this organization, I don't see Sutter or Beagle being moved, unless they dip into free agency and find a cheap 4th line centre.
Is Graovac good enough? The Canucks have 5 centres, not counting Costmar and Focht, so it will be status quo at centre, unless Gaudette//Virtanen brings back another centre.

Yup

Aside from Gaudette Michaelis is the closest we have to a NHL ready center

I don't see Roussel costing an asset to move. He had a great first year, decent second coming off a major injury, and played his roll in the playoffs perfectly, while providing some secodary scoring. I say he gets us a 4th or 3rd.

I agree, Roussel is one of the only players who probably doesn’t cost you to get rid of because he has value.

Same. Teams like guys like Roussel, and I'm sure even Montreal would give up one of their 40 picks for him.

Sutter I see as having value. It might cost a little to help lube a trade, but it would be minimal. Something like Sutter and a 3rd for a 4th.

LE is a whole other issue. Vantel said buyout, which provides like 500k cap relief this year, but 2.3 next and then only costs the team 600k the next two. Not ideal, but also not giving up any assets to move him.

I think they need him until they get a winger that proves he’s ready for NHL competition, I don’t think any of the kids are there yet. Maybe one of them will prove it in camp?
