Me too. He was better than Jake IMO . Jake only got top minutes when someone got injured . Leivo beat him out and bumped him down for two years.

People complain about contracts like Sutter but he beat Jake out of a spot too.

Leivo got a raw deal, he's the kind of guy who could have changed the outcome of the LV series.

He is good on puck battles.

Definitely time to let go some players (old and new). Start bringing in some guys like Hoglander OJ and maybe a few more.

I don't think Hog & Pod make the team next season, happy to be wrong though.

Podkolzin is signed in Russia so he can’t play until his contract is up, and even then, imo he’d have to really impress to make the NHL. He’s gonna spend time in the American League I would guess.

Hoglander turns 20 in December so he could play in the AHL as well next season.

Podkolzin will have 2 years in the KHL(better league than AHL) under his belt when he joins us. He will likely step right in.

Hoglander is Europe based so he could have played in the AHL last season if he wasn't signed to the SHL. It is only CHL players that can't play in the AHL until they turn 20. Every other player, in every other league can go straight to the AHL in their D+1 year.

I am going with White Lies prediction Jake Loui to Ott for a second.

Today is exit interviews so probably tomorrow contracts?

- VANTEL

Would definitely make that trade. Getting a 2nd back and shipping out Loui sounds good to me.

Benning has already said Pod is NHL ready. Hog is already playing against men.

I don't know who listened to the the conference yesterday but Benning said he expects young guys to come to camp and make the team. He said he sees the impact that young players are making throughout the league.

I guess Podkolzin could be available for the playoffs next season, should they make them, but I doubt he’d be a regular. He’d most likely just sit and watch.

When does Hogs deal expire with his SHL team? He’s a bit of a wild card, really really talent and fit, so he may surprise and crack the lineup in training camp, I doubt it but it’d be a nice surprise.

No complaints at all.

There is going to be lots of activity league wide. I think this year everything changes . Lots of teams will be looking to move contracts as we already seen with Jake Allen and Kapanen. It is just beginning.

Levio, Motte, Gaudette, and MacEwen are the only guys I want back in the bottom 6. Realistically one of Sutter or Beagle will be there too.

I think with his speed and tenacity Hoglander will be on the team too. If not to start, definitely by the end of the year. However JB's plan might be to offset some of the larger contracts he's going to give out to TT, Marky, Tanev with some ELCs...

You’re a NHL GM and I come to you and say “I’ll trade you my 36th pick for your 6th pick” and you would say “yes, sounds good to me”?

That’s essentially what you are saying yes to.

It would be the other way around. With him signing an ELC he needs our permission to play in the SHL and we can pull him out at any time.

Yes I know lol, but I’m talking about his SHL deal, anyway, Vantel just said he has an out-clause so he’ll be at camp in November.

One thing that nobody has even mentioned that's more obviously than sh&t on snow is that Leivos been out/injured since DECEMBER - by the time he does get into a game it'll be almost a full year! -Does anybody not think that's gonna have a profound impact on his game?? I mean Roussel missed 8 months with his knee injury and it was another half a season before he said he felt/looked somewhat back to normal. I wouldn't tie a ballon to Leivo's cart.

Lol, that's extremely simple. You're better than that

It's trading a guy (whose draft position doesn't matter anymore as it's all said and done) who hasn't lived up to his potential, plus a guy whose contract is pretty damn big, for a lottery ticket.

No, it was a bad pick but you have to turn it into something more than a second rounder. Turning a bad pick into an even worse trade doesn’t sound like good management to me.

It doesn’t matter if he has an out-clause but once he’s loaned out you cannot just pull him back whenever you feel like it. When guys commit to European teams they have to stay there unless you have an out-clause.

I'm sure JB's getting calls on JV based on yesterdays comments.
