If JB was looking to trade JV he wouldn't taken shot at him in presser to lower his trade value. He's probably looking to sign him for cheap and avoid arbitration.

Think JB is just an honest guy. I don't think any GM is just listening to his presser and not watching the playoffs. They know what Virtanen is and is not at this point, and all the potential that can bring.

I get we all want more cause he's got the tools. But he produced in his first playoffs with timely goals and assists mostly playing bottom 6. This is a team that got shut out several times too. Plus its not a heralded bottom six either that helped him out.

His season was pretty decent too. So on paper there is value why so often talked about. So you'd think JB would at least say he's made progress and more learning to do if he wanted to maintain his value for a trade. Now if you were a GM and got the call you would offer less for JV knowing JB wasn't happy. Why I lean its about arbitration.

I don't think the team wants to go to arbitration, he'll probably get north of 3 mil on a one year deal if it gets there, I also don't think GM's pay attention to other GM's pressers because a lot of those comments are to send messages to players/coaches etc and aren't to be taken seriously

Nobody:
Rival GM: Forget the stats, advanced metrics and insights from those in the league.
Jim said he was 'real good' and we'll trade a 1st rounder for him.

This idea seems silly to me. Seems like it’s all about information gathering and to think they aren’t paying attention to eachother just assumes they aren’t doing their jobs very well.

I think leivo is the odd rfa out, kinda sucks cause he did well but if he wants 1.5 or up how do they justify that?

I think more term could soften the cap hit. Probably throw on an extra year to counter the flat cap. Front load the money to reward him. We were discussing 5.5 during the season as a fair starting point iirc.

Leivo is a UFA. I don't know why you think that? He was scheduled to return this series. He is skating now. He produces the same as Jake and beat Jake out of every position last year. 1.5 seems like a good salary to pay a guy who scores 15-20 goals.

I am going with White Lies prediction Jake Loui to Ott for a second.

Today is exit interviews so probably tomorrow contracts?

I was reading 2 days ago that Podz is still not getting any PP time this season. No PK... just 5 on 5. Thats unfortunate.

I would be happy with Jake for a second even if Loui wasn't thrown in. No way I want to be stuck paying Jake 3 mil this next contract.

I thought JV was well represented in advanced stats. Wasn't his CF% quite good?

Me too. He was better than Jake IMO . Jake only got top minutes when someone got injured . Leivo beat him out and bumped him down for two years.

People complain about contracts like Sutter but he beat Jake out of a spot too.
