Seriously, Domi, Lindgren and a 2nd isn't even as good as Ryder, Halak and a 2nd was back in the day!

Unless they move him to the wing I don't want Monahan, so there's that to start with. If I was deciding Monahan was something that for whatever unknown reason needed to happen, which again, I'd somebody to explain why he's a player the Habs should chase, I'd try to build something around Domi and a pick, likely this years 1st or one of the Habs 2's. (Likely would be their 1st) Habs and Flames both sell their players based on last season which both likely never live up to. I wouldn't try and do a large package including Hanafin because that really comlicates things. Whether that gets it done is hard to say as it doesn't do a ton to help Calgary and essentially replaces Monahan with a smaller player who tends to score less...but they say Max plays big so there's that. Just becausea player with a recognized name is in theory available doesn't mean the Habs should go after that player. Ask yourself this, why does Calgary want to get rid or Monahan a year after he scored 82 points? Right after scoring 8 points in 10 playoff games? If the Habs goal is to have Suzuki and KK as 1a/1b or 1/2 in whatever order it plays out where would Monahan play? Are they going to move Monahan wing? Is he open to that? If so maybe I'd look at it but I'd rather the Habs keep their powder for a better fit for the team - Takemedrunkimhome
I personally think Suzuki is ready as 1st line centre, KK I am not sure, coz I am not entirely sure if his playoff performance is bcoz he chose to play harder coz its his 1st playoff appearance or is he really back in form. At least Monahan you get a guy with at least a few full seasons under his belt which is a better version of Danault

One where a 25 year old perennial 30 goal centreman signed during his prime years and a 23 year old defenseman with almost 400 games under his belt are traded for a 50 point two-way centre who has one year left before becoming a UFA, a 31 year old 3rd liner signed until he's 34 and a 22 year old defenseman who hasn't proven he will be anything more than a 4-6 guy. - AdamFrench

Supposly Calgary fans would like to get rid of Monahan but are we really needing him? Honestly I’d rather hit a Giordano, Hanifin as LD then another center. Let Suzuki, KK and Danault lead centering this year. |

Well maybe they need someone that can be more impactful to the team than Monahan, its like asking why we traded Recchi to another team when he was doing well as a Hab or why we traded for Sergachev in the 1st place. Remember Monahan totals dropped alot vs 2018-2019, and this is when players get moved

If they are making a trade that takes KK out of a C role, their build/retool doesn't make a lot of sense. If they get Monahan and have to play him on the 3rd line, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Nobody likes to hear it but Danault is a Quebecer and that poop sadly matters and he is a great fit as a 3rd C that can move up and down the lineup. I really don't see Monahan as a good fit for the Habs unless it's on the wing which like Domi, Monahan probably doesn't want. I also think Monahan comes expensive because despite his faults his counting numbers are good, he's young and his contract isn't onerous for his contributions. I just don't see a great fit on the Habs and the price tag would likely just reinforce that |

I am saying play Suzuki on 1st line, Monahan 2nd and KK 3rd as centres. As to your Quebecois comment, even though Roy is not French, if he can get traded anyone can, I will be surprised if the kids keep developing we see Danault in Habs uniform past next season |

Again, ask yourself why Calgary wants to move Monahan in the first place? |
