Easy to price yourself out or have the interest rise to a level where they get an offer they can't refuse too... it's a risky game he's playing.... basically trying to dictate how hes utilized in a contract year to raise his value, through the media no less... if Phil Kessel and not Danault does that, people on here would call him selfish, a cancer and plenty more

you're right that he could've been a bit more subtle in his strategy, especially in a market like Montreal, but I'm still positive they'll come down to an agreement

Fair enough.... if you're Bergy and Danault is un-signed next deadline and the Habs are 12 points out of a spot, what do you do?

that would be top dollar but I think so yes... with a term of 6 years though it might be more around 5.5...

As a C, Domi likely doesn't have a role long term on the Habs. Danault on the other hand does fill the defensive/shutdown role assuming he is willing to be that guy. No guarantee on that either. A lot of what ifs. The most concrete thing I can say is any realistic trade for the Habs that takes a top 2 C role away from Suzuki or KK long term doesn't fit from my perspective

Looking forward to UFA day, Oct 9, and a few days prior, so we can really see what trades will go down, then we will see for ourselves, nothing is ever predictable

Because if it's not resolved in the next 2 months it will most likely be the scenario we're looking at

For Danault? If we need to keep him, and he plays 2nd line minutes and If the kids falter then it make sense, wont go more than 5.5MM

ranked 16th in the league for points at 5x5

that's better than Pettersson, ROR, Barkov, Kopitar, Kutnetzov, Dubois, Tavares, Horvat, Backstrom, Seguin, Bergeron, Monahan, Duchene, Giroux...

playing devil's advocate, why would he take 5.5?

trading him in a panic move while your team is more in a position of weakness doesn't sound too ideal...

Hahaha, who knows what MB will do , and I will never try to talk like one in here, but I know we have alot of guys to sign after this season so cant spend too much on one guy. We have $10MM tied in Price already, not to mention Weber

I dont get how the PP went from top 10 at beginning of year to like bottom half in the league. Drouin injured, Price overworked etc. We need guys who can score in regular season before we even talk about playoffs

maybe start by winning the (frank)in faceoff and not lose 30-40 seconds to come back in the o-zone and establish your PP?

who do we have who could do that.... let me see.....

They were better than Colorado, Boston, Vegas, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Winnipeg and many others in PP FO%, not sure the faceoffs are the real problem with the PP

I agree it starts with FO, where is Uncle Nate? All kiddings aside that's where I hope Romanov and whoever we trade for LHD will provide some sparks

Suzuki was at almost 50% on the draws as a 20 year old rookie... who do you think is gonna be taking those FO starting next year? He took more than any Hab other than Danault last year

I just checked Suzuki is 46.5% on face offs, big difference to.Danault 54%, I am sure he will improve to closer to 50% soon. Also agree he needs to take more draws to improve
