Like I mentioned, to change the culture in the room, whether they want a couple more players here and there is another thing - habs88888
Change the culture by moving out a top 6 (potentially top line) C for lesser parts?

Not a huge Monahan fan, not my ideal number 1 centre, but it really shows how (frank)ing hard it is to get "the guy." Here's a guy scoring 30g and 70ish points a year and people crap all over him. |

Same boat as I said earlier, I don't really want the guy but it doesn't mean he isn't good. People throw out he doesn't play big, or in big moments, or he's not a 200 foot guy and blah blah blah. I'm too lazy to look it up but I'd wager he's top 10 or 20 since entering the league in goals scored. Fans be dumb all the time, myself included |

While I don't disagree, I also won't count on GM stupidity when discussing potential trades. "This GM once made a dumb trade so let's assume we can always throw crap at them and take their best players"
If that were the case after the Drouin trade I'd hate to see what other GMs tossed at MB |

I would not say stupidity, more like irrational. That being said, I am sure for Domi or Danault trade it will be come out more irrational than we expect

I'm no mathemagician but in a 30/31 team league that seems pretty good |

I like how 2 weeks of summer hockey convinced everyone the Habs are suddently set at center and that Danault is expandable. |

As a C, Domi likely doesn't have a role long term on the Habs. Danault on the other hand does fill the defensive/shutdown role assuming he is willing to be that guy. No guarantee on that either. A lot of what ifs. The most concrete thing I can say is any realistic trade for the Habs that takes a top 2 C role away from Suzuki or KK long term doesn't fit from my perspective |

And if Kotkaniemi and Suzuki fall on their faces and turn out to be complete busts, will Danault really be a necessity at that point? |

if KK and Suzuki are both busts I think the habs will be needing more than Danault... lol

I doubt they will be complete busts, they show promise...but they are still 21 and 20 years old. If things go sour this season, you trade Danault at the deadline when GMs are in buying mode. I doubt he'd bring back more return right now anyway. |
