Anyone have an update on Patrick. Though it has been reported as a migraine disorder my guess it is post concussion related. I hope he is able to recover. - Toadthedry
Not concussion related. It is a migraine disorder.

He doesn't get it and he won't. You build up the middle of the ice. Goalie, defense, center. Wing is the least important position in hockey. Flyers have also traditionally done well with drafting forwards. You don't trade a defenseman with strong top 4 two way ability for a 60 point winger. - MJL
Agreed. I would not trade provie Myers or sanhiem. I also prob wouldn’t trade zamula or York.
Third pairing defenseman can always be found. We have Haag for next year. His partner may be up in the air. And zamula may push for a spot. With York in a few years. Would think they either ride ghost or sign a vet for 1-2 years. |

Pronman released his farm system report today in the Athletic. Flyers rank #10 with no players in the “Special “ or “Elite “ Tiers. Hart an Farabee are “High end” with Patrick and Frost at the next level down. Zamula, York and Brink are considered “very good “. The most common criticism throughout the rankings is lack of speed. I’d like to see the Flyers make speed a priority in the upcoming draft. - Djapana

Marner for Sanheim and a NAK. Take it or leave it. I suspect you’ll leave it. We don’t want Nylander.
Take it from us Flyers fans, have fun trying to trade for quality defense at a fair price lol. - hereticpride

Btw, before I leave HockeyBuzz in a few, I will throw-down a gentleman's gauntlet to the optimists here.
I propose an even money $200 bet each to any two of you if the following happens:
Flyers will NOT win 11 games in any single playoff season from 2021-2025. (If they do, I pay $200 each to the bettors, if they don't, the bettors each pay me that amount).
(Less than 11 games means they lose ECF or earlier. Yeah, I am that sure they won't go further).
We will exchange email info over PM if interested, and make token cash exchanges over Paypal/Venmo/Cashapp of $5 to show seriousness and cement bet (I will go first, sure).
Now, which one of you eternal optimists is gonna man up?
EDIT: If any post-season gets cancelled by pandemic, willing to cancel bet if requested. - PT21
I might take that bet....why not. While I agree with some of you assessments, I think they are further along then what you think.

Yes a lot of people share that opinion. I found it interesting that he left 2 #1 picks, Rubtsov and O’Brien completely off the report. They didn’t even make the “ NHL Potential” tier that had players like Ginning and St Ivey on it. In other words they are busts in his opinion that won’t make it to the NHL.

Nylander has been rumored to be traded for the last two years. It seems the leafs fans can’t wait for him to be gone saying he is not engaged in the game enough.
From what I’ve read I want zero part of him.
The Leafs want to much.
I might do Ghost for Nylander straight up.
Thats without looking at salary cap implications. - bird_dog_pa
How do we know what the Leafs would want ? They need inexpensive good d....maybe a goalie....cap relief ?

Some of his analysis’s in general are just not correct. Some border on laughable. I like the athletic but read his stuff‘/analysis with a grain of salt.

Hell, NJ moved Taylor Hall for what was assumed to be a solid # 2 dman in Larrson. The Flyers have a large group of promising young D, and if they are top upgrade the forward group it may well be one of them moving on......this ain’t Hextall running the show anymore, so you may see the Flyers be a tad more pro active.

Ask yourself what is harder to acquire in order. Top pairing winger, top line Center, or top pairing D? Hint, if you don’t have winger third, you are wrong.
I’m a Jets fan and don’t think the Flyers need Nylander. Girioux, Farabee, TK, Voracek are all capable top 6 wingers with more possibles on the team now and in the system.
Nylander doesn’t improve this team enough to warrant giving up a big piece on D. Stop arguing Nylanders worth when he’s not needed in Philly - Ross77
I did not say I would pull the trigger. I said the trade option should not be dismissed. It is much closer, on merit, than what fans who overvalue their own players think. You should work on your reading comprehension before jumping in like a lunatic and asking people to stop saying what they are not saying.
And why in your options do you mention top winger, center, and top pairing D? Which of these do you think is Sanheim's current position? Hint: If you think its top pairing D, you are wrong.
Sanheim does have top pairing upside. He could even be #1D. However, there is significant standard deviation in his game right now. He had a poor playoff series, with several repetitive weaknesses displayed. He was soft against the boards, he got flustered and turned the puck over. He hardly ever made the offensive forays we have seen him routinely make during the regular season though we saw his partner do that. It is entirely possible, even probable, this may be due to inexperience, but the bottom line is this: we do not know. How many young promising Dmen don't turn out the way you think in the league? Hint: if you think its less than a zillion, you are wrong.
And as for Nylander, I have seen him play multiple times. He is a very good player. I expect him to be a top 10 winger in a couple of years. And you forgot a rather important fact. Nylander can play center. I have seen him play center against some good teams, with Marner and Hyman on his wings, and he has looked pretty good to me.
Cheers.

How dare he respond to your post and state a differing opinion. You're making a semantics argument here. First calling people morons and now lunatics.

No where in his post did he suggest that Sanheim is currently a top pairing D. I think you might have a reading comprehension issue.
Sanheim does have top pairing upside. He could even be #1D. However, there is significant standard deviation in his game right now. He had a poor playoff series, with several repetitive weaknesses displayed. He was soft against the boards, he got flustered and turned the puck over. Most young defenseman have a significant "standard deviation" in their game at his level of development. You seem to lack the understanding that development of young players is not normally linear. Especially for defenseman. Sanheim is just one player who didn't play well and all of the issues he had are imminently correctable. Stating that players sometimes don't reach their projected potential doesn't mean that Sanheim won't. Nor does his struggles in the playoffs project that. We don't know so why do you constantly write the player off and insinuate that he won't reach his potential?
And as for Nylander, I have seen him play multiple times. He is a very good player. I expect him to be a top 10 winger in a couple of years. And you forgot a rather important fact. Nylander can play center. I have seen him play center against some good teams, with Marner and Hyman on his wings, and he has looked pretty good to me.

See, if you think players always meet their potential, think again. How many young promising forwards don't turn out the way you think in the league? Hint: if you think its less than a zillion, you are wrong.
Cheers.
Is your departure from Hockeybuzz still imminent or has it been rescheduled?

I’m sure they want inexpensive good D. They can have Ghost. They aren’t in position to demand more.
I’m sure Fletch can do better somewhere else.
If the leafs could have gotten a good package for Nylander he would have been gone.
The league GM’s might know something we don’t. |

I remember more than one person saying DeBrincat... Mordecai was one of them, I think, maybe.
I do remember people mocking those who were favoring one player or another.
