I won't hold my breath on Drouin duplicating his success next season but I hope he proves me wrong playing with Suzuki, and let's not kid ourselves , we need the kids (Suzuki and KK) to continue playing at the same level as they did in the playoffs
- habs88888

Not a big Drouin fan myself but Bergy has to deal with the draft, UFA, Domi, acquiring a D and possibly a LW, all in a shortened offseason... why create more work and another hole by trading a guy who has 3 years left and next to no value? A Drouin trade is part salary dump at this point, in a time where very few teams have space... gonna trade him for a depth D and a 3rd round pick? No thanks

Because Bergy has lots to do in a short offseason as it is, Drouin has term left and showed good chemistry with Suzuki in a small sample near the end... if that chemistry carries over, the payoff for Montreal will be greater than anything they could ever get in a trade for Drouin now.... and somebody needs to play the left side, other than soon to be UFA Tatar, who do they have that could be considered a top 6 LW? And even if frustrating to watch at times, he was tied for the team lead in points in these playoffs, was he not?

They played together for like two games. Remember Drouin and Domi together? They were sparking and it didn’t last long. I do not believe in Drouin anymore, I’ve defended him the last three seasons but he’s himself to blame.

All I want is Habs grabbing a guy like Ehlers he’s the perfect fit to the top 6 LW
And you resign Tatar at good price.

Trade Domi for Ehlers
Sign Brodie or Edmundson
Try to get Athanasiou for Bryon

I'd say yes to Ehlers

No to Brodie... maybe to Edmundson, only if Mete is dealt without a better LD being added, could be a good stop gap on a short deal

And Byron for AA is really not happening, Edmonton will wait for him to sign an offer sheet before they do that

I would prefer Brodie over Edmundson he's got more offense outside of Romanov who we haven't seen him play yet we don't have many that can generate offense from the left side

Brodie would cost a lot more for a lot longer, I'm ok with the team closing the gap between the aging vets on the backend and the upcoming talented F... but still have to focus on the future, adding Brodie for 7 million dollars between the age of 31-37 is not a good idea... cant have that much money invested for that long in an aging D core... re-sign Petry over adding Brodie, can't do both!

No way I am giving 7 million to Brodie, 5.5MM max over 5 years. If he comes then good. I also don't know if we should resign Petry but again it depends on who we can get for him

Don't think 5.5 gets you Brodie

And I was on the trade Petry train for 2 years but now I think I keep him, especially if Suzuki and Kotkaniemi keep progressing the way they did

If Drouin does go to Colorado, who will come back? I agree Domi for Ehlers straight up
- habs88888

Winnipeg won't agree.

Probably not straight up but it's not that far off, Habs definitely have the assets to close the gap

With Brian Little on injury reserve, it all depends on how badly Winnipeg wants a 2nd line C and if they see Domi doing well in that role

Maybe see what Romanov brings to the table first? Although an offensive quarter back wouldn’t be bad on the left D.

Charriot
Kulak
Romanov
(Mete)zzZ

Weber
Petry
UFA/Trade or Fleury

I think he's one of their top forward. He's pretty good.

On the right side, same opinion, see if we want to keep Petry first

I think they’ll keep him else we will have a serious hole on the right side. Guy has been doing 40pts+ last 3 seasons.
Hopefully Romanov et Fleury play strong next year

That right side for 3rd pairing will be a battle between Fleury/Juulsen/Brook

Has to do with increased chances to win in the Price/Weber/Petry era...

I forgot about Juulsen. Kid was doing so great before injuries.
I don’t think Brook is ready

I think Brook would be as ready as Fleury was last year, Juulsen when healthy is a better option than Fleury, more upside
