Sure.
IMO. Our top 6 struggled without Toffoli.
Beyond JV, no one came close to that top 6 role.
And JV himself couldn’t keep that spot for long.
I’d rather resign TT vs taking a flyer on another ufa.
Move JV.

I agree I am all for bringing in a guy like Toffoli for 5 mil or less.

I don't mind at all losing Jake (for a first )

I'm not sold on bringing TT back, as I've said, unless it's for 2-3 years but I doubt he'd sign that.

With Hoglander and Podkolzin coming back to back, it presents an opportunity – if JB thinks they're ready – to slot into the top 6 right away.

Hoglander's speed and skill could round out the Bo and Pearson line, and free up extra cap to trade for/have cap for the defense.

I hope Toffoli wants to go back to California, otherwise Benning will over pay him (since they have a plethora of cap space) and give him too much term. He has peaked and is slow. I'm sure they could find someone younger who has more speed.

The team is headed for contender status slotting rookies into top 6 might not be the way to go. Have them gain experience on the 3rd line for a couple seasons and spot duty in top 6.

JB traded for TT with this in mind to hold the top 6 in prime years and slot down to Perry like 3rd line role when the young guns rise up.

Three years is fine but it gets risky if you go more.

5x4 is fair with 2 solid prime years 1-2 as depth. But he could be traded if needed before that.

We're just not that close yet. I'd rather slot a young player in now than have an overpaid vet in 2 years.

The playoffs were fun and a great experience for everyone involved.

HOWEVER, we did not outshoot the Blues or Knights once. Vegas absolutely destroyed us and only unsustainable goaltending kept us in the series.

Going against the 2 top teams in the NHL is a good measure. You need to maintain that not step back. They can move on from bubble status with the ELC's of their top talent as roster depth.

Won’t know until they are here.
Too risky to bank on imo.
If they force their way into the lineup, great problem.
trade someone else.

JV is younger and had more speed.
Sure doesn’t solve the top 6 riddle.

You’re not wrong.
This was a step.
Need much more depth and offensive contributions

Where do you get that from? There is not 1 metric that makes sense.

If he's down with a 2 year deal then sign him. If not there are so many variables at play.

Yup. Still a few years away if managed properly.
If the Blues actually showed up and cared, that series would have been over sooner and in favour of the other guys. It was great seeing some steps forward but it really highlighted the glaring inefficiencies the Canucks still face. At least they have 2 more seasons of Beagle.

Call it what you want, I think I'm a realist who isn't clouded by fandom. I've been a Canuck fan since their inception, so I've faced a lifetime of disappointment cheering for them. They are on the right track for something special so long a the process is not sped up.
Enjoy your half full glass.

I agree. We also saw how important Edler and Tanev still are and neither 1 is getting younger.

They also need to maintain their level of goaltending so they'll need to either re-sign Markstrom or find someone on the market good enough for 40-50 quality starts. My biggest question for Markstrom is if he's going to be comfortable with relinquishing the net at some point moving forward. He might be open to taking a shorter deal . I think he wants to be here and wants to win which is ideal right now.

I think with a compressed schedule having 2 goalies will be even more paramount next season. I actually like MTL's move to trade for Allen.

The counter point that you don't believe the Canuks are HEADED for contender status. You'd rather they stay in bubble status by adding more rookies to top roles.

He’s not wrong. Id like to see another defensive dman. Dillon or Miller. Other than that, let them all mature as a group. They just took a cup favorite to 7.

I find your takes mostly balanced, but man you sound pouty and pessimistic AF when you constantly beat that monotone drum at the end of your input.

"This signing was bad." "Don't worry we still have Beagle for 2 years." "JB sucks for XYZ."

We know where you stand, and probably the majority of us agree with you on most of it – don't have to loop it back in just to reaffirm it.

Thanks, I'll post how I feel about the Canucks and why whenever I want. I find the sun is always shining takes equally as annoying, I'm just trying to create a balance. Next time I'll check with the edit police to make sure my posts are less upsetting.

If you need someone for 2 years why get pigeonholed into 1 guy for 4? It makes very little sense to me. He did hug Kopitar though?

Like I said previously, when the young guns take over he can switch roles or trade him if you want the roster space.
