If those assets are so good why would they trade them? Also, 3 forwards make 33 mil of the cap? If they do try to trade these assets who takes on long term max cap hit? If you mean tradings firsts that even worse in the cap world. The fix for the leafs is complicated and I think we’re in a better spot.

Yes. Imo the most valuable asset in the nhl is young elite 2 way dmen like provy. You can get forwards but it’s hard to get those quality d. We had to get them via ufa for eons. Now we’ve got 3 young good ones.

What would you have liked him to do? His top players flat out sucked since they got
to the bubble. Their leading goal scorer from the regular season scored ZERO goals in 17 games. Their captain scored one. Their Selke candidate came dramatically out of shape. Voracek did Voracek things. Their veteran, been their before defenseman, looked like he never played in the playoffs before.

AV is getting roasted for the challenges. Perhaps it was because he knew his team was not performing and was taking stabs at keeping the slim leads they had.

This team’s core and veteran leadership, outside of Kevin Hayes, spent vast majorities of this playoff disengaged. I love G and Coots, but this absolutely falls on them.

Marner could well have 5-6 seasons of 100+ points coming up. Marner ain't chopped liver.

Eat the salary to make it comparable to Provy and I would be seriously tempted assuming (and this is a big one) if Myers develops next year at the same pace he has this year.

I would have not seen JvR used as a scapegoat. Giroux, Konecny and Couturier were very average the entire playoffs. There was zero errancy to get players in front of the net.

Hats off the the isles they played solid team d and didn’t break down inns zone coverages very much.
Sanheim, Myers need to get stronger. They got outmuscled on the boards far to many times this series.
The top six forwards didn’t do poop really. Hayes is about the only forward who had a ok series.
Giroux, Jake, coots, TK needed to do more.
I would put JVR in that list as well but he at least scored last game.
Fletch has some work to do. The flyers have a few contracts that are going to be tough to maneuver around.
