Used. It would be less disgusting than watching a potential dynasty flame out game in and out for a year. - MacPatty
They are tied with Chicago for the most Cupsnsince the 04/05 lockout with 3. There are no "dynasties" any more. The Crosby teams have more Cups than the Lemieux teams. There is alwaya going to be a flame out. Be grateful foe what you have insteadnof feeling that the Pens are entitled to win. |

Nay. Last thing we need is a younger Jack Johnson that people think is a first pairing defenseman. |

Sabre’s don’t exactly have a ton of cap space. Money will have to go out. Any deal for Murray will include Hutton - login

The fact that they didn’t acquire a goalie at the deadline is bizarre. |

In other words you completely have no idea what the pens are interested in from the sabres. Great reporting dweeb. |

Wanting your team to have continued success is not being ungrateful or entitled. While there are currently no dynasties, if the Pens put up another 1 or 2 in the next 2-4 years I think they would meet that criteria. |

Again, a Flyers' fan make the most sense when it comes to telling Pens' fans how lucky we have been for that past 29 years. |

What about Murray & JJ for Hutton & Miller? Pens might need to throw in a prospect. Would likely depend on how much they would covet Murray. |

Tell me how the Sabres don't have Cap room, Rhino is gonna be the most expensive, even if they resigned all of there RFA's they should still have about 15mill, and that could be a push cause either Montour or Risto will probably be moved. |

I don't know, some sites have him at 5yrs 4.5mill. But with the flat cap it's hard to predict what anyone will get. |

I'm torn. I also feel how you feel. If JR brings in Risto because he feels he can take the 1st/2nd pairing then nay. If JR brings him in to make him a 3rd pairing D or to trade him to another team to be a top pairing D. Then I would say yay. He would probably be easier to shop than JJ. |

$6 mil on the third pairing when said player is every bit as bad as Johnson except that he puts up more points? Hell no. |

The Penguins have won 5 Stanley Cups sinxe 1990.
Name one other team that can say the same. If you can't, don't expect pity from around the league for not winning more. |

Matt Murray, Bjudstad, and a pick for Brandon Montour and Marcus Johansson
JR really likes Montour and Buffalo out bid us for him in a trade with Anaheim in the past and Bjudstad and a pick for Johansson (who I could see needing a change of scenery and doing well).
I could see a JJ and Colin Miller swap in a trade just because he is a PP specialist in the past for Vegas and JR was tied to him. I could also see JR going after Skinner with 3 million retained (if this trade occurred Bjudstad would probably get bought out) and I would assume McCann would have to be moved in such deal otherwise I can't really see a realistic option for McCann to Buffalo (including Skinner coming back in a trade is not realistic). |

We don't deserve pity and are probably one of the most spoiled fan-bases in all of North American sports, but that doesn't make things any less frustrating. It's one thing for your team to decline simply because your players are done and it's another to know winning is still possible, but management decisions are what's standing in the way. |

The only player from the entire Sabres roster who I would want is Dahlin, who of course they would never trade and who the Pens would not be able to afford soon anyway. Unless the Sabres' coach has the team playing very good team defense in front of him (which they do sometimes) Murray is going to get shelled backing that team.
Now if they are willing to eat JJ's contract then I think a deal might be worthwhile, regardless of what the Pens get in return. |

I brought up Johansson a few blogs ago, but I was quickly reminded about how injury-prone he is.

He also has taken a huge step back when healthy. Could be the injuries adding up but also he’s 31. As a guy who was always a fan of MoJo when he was at his peak, I want no part of him. |

So is Bjudstad so it could be a good match since they both only have a year left on their contracts. |

He didn't really play well for NJ/Boston, but he is noted to step up his play for the playoffs. |
