Peace out Colorado. Healthy scratch all playoffs with a hat trick for Dallas. Bananas

Maybe their data is more granular, but what they're tracking is probably not all that different than what we have available to us. Teams keep hiring nerds off the internet for a reason.
- Tomahawk

Of course but if what is available on the internet is so valuable, then why are they hiring stats guys? Why don't team just log onto the web? Again, it's not the science that is suspect. It is the data.

Good for Dallas. Hope joe can get his cup since he got away from joe. But not sure I’m not a fan of perry and his dirty elbows. If we don’t go of course.

Easy to hate on Braun, but he has done some good things in this series. Broke up what was probably a sure goal last night. And he's been taking the punishment being 1st guy back on dump ins. With all due respect to the rest of the Flyers dmen, they're not as willing to eat glass as JB.
- Tomahawk

That's absolutely true but you can see that he is hanging on by a thread in the spectrum of not being able to skate well enough to defend. He seems slower in the playoffs than he seemed in the regular season. One split second mis-read and he's beat. To his credit he is obviously experienced in his reads or he would get beat a lot more often.

Are you ready to finally discuss who/what he could get in return? To me it makes sense to move on. And have for a year now. Would you agree he is on the block

It seems like a lot of the older players took more time to get their legs under them.

Not Thompson though.

You never said when before. And wouldn’t at the trade deadline. But nice.

LOL. So therefore I am being consistent by not discussing trades before the season is over concerning Gostisbehere?

3rd game today. Never heard of him. But apparently also was very good in the World Championship last year. Scored GWG on the way to Finnish title.

Not exactly. You said before you wouldn’t discuss bc you didn’t want to trade him. That post made it seem like you believe he won’t be here for much longer. And agree. If not traded he will prob be gone for nothing.

And it’s weird to me. Trades happen all the time. Why not discuss possibilities.

Isn't there a difference between thinking the team might trade him and my not wanting to trade him? I still don't want to trade him. I have been extremely clear that I think Gostisbehere should be in the lineup and playing.

Anyone know what’s more boring than a discussion about the validity of stats in hockey? No, me neither.
- Dkos
Every single NHL team has a robust analytics dept. The hockey + stats debate was over like 5 years ago. Can't believe you guys are still going on about it.

Kinda feel it's just about time for today's blog to have a palate cleanser. Does this work? ():

I personally can't wait for the day when TK matures and wastes less energy yapping and stick slamming. He should let his skill do the talking.

I'm all for his extracurricular efforts. Especially when he gets his older "brothers" and Uncle Moose to join in the fun:

Yes there is a difference. I ll wait until the end of the season. Just curious as to what people think his real trade value is. Now I think it’s lower than ever. One bad season is ok. But two in a row. Scratched in the playoffs. Flat cap. Injury history.

It's pretty obvious that his trade value is lower than it would be if he was in the lineup and playing well.

In my opinion his trade value is next to nothing. If you look at just the player, teams may well be willing to take a chance. But given the very high uncertainties that skew negative (healthy scratch forever in favor of guys like Hagg), who will want to take on a contract like that in a flat salary cap, unless they are trading like for like?

Yes for sure but the idea is to get some value back in return for a player you drafted and developed. Maybe that player would be less likely to get picked. I would just hate to lose Gostisbehere for nothing. I personally think he should be playing.
- MJL

Do in think the coach is making mistake not playing him ?

He's worth more than next to nothing. You're discounting the role that physical issues played. There are many teams that have plenty of cap space and Gostisbehere is still relatively young.

Doesn’t matter what ghost value is as you can’t be scratching 4.5 every day. If they don’t plan on playing him u dump him for whatever. My guess is some gm will take a shot on him. If that happens and he finds success elsewhere so be it as it’s nit gonna happen here

I know. But you won’t put a value on it so I’ll wait.
