I think cap hit remains similar for most goalies like Lehner, Markstrom, Holtby, Murray ect...But I think Lehner has earned a longer contract than the rest.

He gets 5 years while the rest get 2-4.

Markstrom won't go anywhere. Demko is cost controlled and they aren't ditching the guy who was their MVP all year, including these playoffs until he got injured.

Can't even put into words what that Bobrovsky signing looks like. It's florida, so no oen pays attention, but organizationally crippling for years is what it is.

It's certainly a great question and seems to indicate that there's something fundamentally wrong with the Leafs d-corps and/or the "system" -- and less an issue with who is between the pipes.

Ergo, Andy would be much more solid with an actual team playing good defense around him.

However, I would still trade Andersen regardless of whether he's a problem or not. If Colorado can win games with Hutch in net that's even more reason to trade Andersen while he's worth something than to hold on to him.

I firmly believe the Leafs need to significantly upgrade the right-side of the d-corps and ensure that the "system" is more defensively responsible (I'm looking a you, forward group!).

This is incorrect. They will lose Demko or have to trade him in the next year due to the expansion draft. They are in a tough cap situation and really cannot afford to give Markstrom a big deal. He suddenly had a career year at age 31.

And yeah, you can argue he was their MVP, but the real superstars that carry that team are Pettersen and Hughes. Both need massive deals soon.
