Not playing JJ is simply not a reality if he's with the Pens. So I go with option 2 because the subtraction of JJ is major addition to the overall on ice product. - MattStrat
Reminds me of the Scudari trade. Was it because Daley was that good, or Scudari was that bad?!?! |

Madden mentioning Fleury return to PIT not out of the question. He did say it's very far from a certainty, but PIT is at least open to the idea.
On one hand I guess it could align with the idea of a 2 yr window? But on no planet does this make sense in the realm of possibility
unless we are trading Murray AND Jarry for a good haul, ridding ourselves of JJ and Bjugstad, and VGK retains salary on MAF... - YouMeAndDupuis9
I only see it happening if Vegas buys Fleury out and he agrees to share time with Jarry. But those are 2 huge "IF's"

Fair enough. Reirden and Velluci probably wont be overriding that decision either.
I just think we are not "subtracting JJ" away from being cup contenders. I think we have a great top 6, a good 4th line, a really good top 4, but the third line is harming us more than the bottom pair D (when Jack is with someone beside Schultz). Thats not to say its not a problem, obviously, but I really want to see a big upgrade at 3C. |

He needs to just sit in the minors, at least gives the Pens $1M in cap relief. Better believe both JR and Sully have their asses on the line this year. Neither can affordbto let him sink the ship again. |

I bet he could find a starting gig in that scenario but I could actually see him wanting to be back with his buddies more than being a starter for, I dunno, Minnesota or something.
I just think if thats what they really wanted Fleury, then Jarry has to be traded for prime assets while his value is high.
Okay now going down a rabbit hole...but I wonder if you could have fleury play for you for league minimum and just be like, dude, do this Subway commercial and we will pay you $3M. lol |

Honestly, it almost seems destined to happen but I just dont know how. Vegas is in a terrible cap spot. Pens would have to unload a lot, I dont know that the knights can take any back. |

How about just Fleury for JJ straight up?
I think that helps both teams as its cheaper than a buyout for Vegas and the Pens get rid of JJ and get a really good goalie. |

I feel that if Fleury was just interested in playing with his buddies, his agent wouldn't have posted that picture. He is in a rare opportunity right now to add to his legacy and keep adding to his stats. I LOVE FLEURY and would love to have him back on the Pens, but realistically the odds are against it.

I'm in
Trade Murray for ?, Trade Jarry for ??
Trade JJ to Vegas for Fleury
Vegas buys out or buries JJ
We'd have assets for Murray/Jarry and have a net cost of Fleury of 4.75 (7 Million minus 2.25 of JJ)

If Lehner keeps throwing up shutouts and absolutely shuts it down all the way to the finals how do you as vegas’ gm honestly not find a way to keep him? Maf throws up a 10 team list of teams like Tampa and is basically untradeable. Do you buy him out to keep Lehner? I don’t think it’s impossible depending on Lehner’s numbers. Can’t just let him walk. |

I mean I have no idea but Jarry might get you Sam Reinhart or something really impactful. Murray is a crapshoot in terms of return but should net at least one useful piece. I could almost talk myself into it haha... just so improbable... |

Sounds like jr is busting ass behind the scenes though. Got kap, signed his coaches, now there’s rumours left right and centre about MM. |

Jack Johnson’s dog poop play in the qualifying round pretty much sank the Penguins. |

I don’t understand how Ventura hasn’t tore a strip off the org for having anything to do with Jj. Guy just a gets some recognition for 40 under 40 crap. Sounds like he isn’t doing his damn job mofo.
Edit- someone should tweet him haha |

I don't know what a potential trade would look like, but I could see Andersen coming back to the Pens. I think he's a good goalie and only makes $1 in actual salary which would have to appeal to Mario and Burkle.
Unfortunately with the Leafs, they have some elite-ish forwards and then some average forwards with not much in between. And, of course, they don't have any defense to trade.
What is Andersen's value? Is it potentially negative since he counts $5M against the cap and has had not so good numbers in Toronto? He only has one year left so it's probably neutral.
I would feel comfortable with Andersen + good vet backup. This would allow us to trade both goalies (even though I'd rather not trade Jarry).
The only real targets on the Leafs that make sense for the Pens are Kerfoot and Hyman. I doubt the Leafs trade Hyman. That leaves Kerfoot which seems like Murray straight up would suffice. |

Murray + McCann for Andersen + Hyman + Kerfoot?
This would clear quite a bit of cap for the Leafs. |

Yeah, throw in a 2nd if it seems lopsided which it probably is. I just don't know what Andersen's value is, but it's probably somewhere around neutral. $5M isn't a ton, but it isn't nothing, either, and they definitely need to shed that if they are going to pay Murray instead. This just streamlines that process. |

What is MM's minimum arbitration number? Leafs trade for his RFA rights and player elects to go arbitration, aren't they likely stuck with nearly the same amount they are paying for Andersen? |
