They also gave up a 1000+ shots 5v5 over the last 3 seasons then a team like Boston.
🤷🏻♂️
And this year 1/2 our D wouldn’t have made most NHL teams with Rielly Muzzin going down, but lets just ignore this as it doesn’t fit your argument. - Garnie
Then how come Lehner had .920% this year? How come Halleybuyck will win the Vezina?

Frank Seravalli: “The Pittsburgh Penguins are believed to have one standing offer on the table for Matt Murray. The Maple Leafs, Oilers, Flames, Senators, Sabres and Avalanche are among the potential suitors for Murray’s services – a list that may soon grow.”
Be patient Jim. NHL GM's are a special breed of gambler. BTW I still think Murray can be a good goalie in this league, I just think it is time for us to move on. - burgh4life87
Yeah Murray will probably go somewhere else and find his game. That's why teams are looking to buy low on him. Agree, just time for us to move on. |

Yup.
I would like to see a Current sample of MM with jj in the press box. See how he performs. Prob wouldn’t be so quick to get rid of him. |

Is it more important that the pens get a player or picks for murray? Anyone on the leafs who would fit perfectly (from a position and cap #) perspective?
Nylander is at 7M? Kerfoot at 3.5M? get hallander back? I may want hallander and my #1 pick back versus a player. Murray was at 3.75M last year. take that money and move it elsewhere. - i'mjustafan
If you see a player around the right value and can get him in a Murray trade do that first. If not, take the futures and just reallocate cap space like the Leafs did with us.
Kerfoot might work. Doesn't sound like they were enamored with him, but gives us another affordable center option who can also play wing. |

They have D who actually play D, not running around out of position. Who were the Leafs top 6 with Muzzin and Rielly out this year?
Leafs need a good stay at home RHD for Rielly trade for Tyson Barrie. 🥴

Everything RW discussed as cheaper options for the Leafs are moves I'd like to see the Pens explore as a tandem with Jarry. Compressed schedule with a starting goalie who never played 50 games in 5 years as a pro and a backup who cleared waivers is just too much risk for me.
Edit: oops, said Murray instead of Jarry as the goalie to keep. |

I agree with you there. This will for sure be a crucial year for goaltending. Still think they should trade Murray but hoping they can pick up a Vet backup for a mil or two. Think there will be good deadline options also. |

Ya they do
1 year with the worse D in the league in front of him. Only someone lacking common sense would think he’s trending downwards.
And now Dubas is looking at Murray .899

JJ
2nd or 3rd round pick
To Pens:
Anisimov
5th or 6th round pick |

Doesn't Anisimov kinda suck now? And get injured a lot?
I think this raises a philosophical question: would you rather
go all in and try to get a really good 3C and keep Jack Johnson?
Or
unload Murray for spare parts but rid ourselves of Jack Johnson?
To me I take option 1. Even though they wont do this, it's an easy solution -- you just dont play Jack Johnson. |

Not playing JJ is simply not a reality if he's with the Pens. So I go with option 2 because the subtraction of JJ is major addition to the overall on ice product.

Madden mentioning Fleury return to PIT not out of the question. He did say it's very far from a certainty, but PIT is at least open to the idea.
On one hand I guess it could align with the idea of a 2 yr window? But on no planet does this make sense in the realm of possibility
unless we are trading Murray AND Jarry for a good haul, ridding ourselves of JJ and Bjugstad, and VGK retains salary on MAF...
