Agree completely. Petts is solid but upgrade if you can. I dont think Krug is realistic but I wonder about Brodin.

Would Guerin be interested in Murray and Petts for Brodin and Staal? Pens getting the better players but both would be rentals and Guerin would get two good, cost controlled players.

I'm taking a cost-controlled Pettersson over Brodin. I'm not sure that Brodin is THAT much of an upgrade over Pettersson at this point.

Haha maybe swap out Bjugs for McCann or add Poulin. I dont see that one happening. Though he'd be pretty much ideal 3C. Probably better option than Domi to be honest. Probably will get $6.5M on his next deal.

I disagree that Murray is a reclamation project. He will be a great fit for a backpressure defence. The Pens just run and gun and play incredibly loose. Put him on the Isles and he will win the Vezina. Carolina would be his best fit of the teams that are interested.

First half of the year the Pens were playing some if the best defense in the league and Murray was terrible. That's what was most disappointing to me, the team actually was playing great defense for once and Murray basically was giving back their hard work.

How much is Dadonov going to want? Be a nice back 9 of career gift for Geno. I know they have good top 6 in place already, plus already snagged a RW, but if Rust or Kapanen went to 3rd line then that 3rd line is looking much stronger. Keep McCann to be C for it.

Then all you have to do is ship out JJ and Bjugs to fit Dady in the lineup...

I would do that in a heartbeat. I don't think it makes sense for CGY considering he's their #2 guy. It would take a bigger haul to get Backlund and I'm not even sure they'd do it unless they knew they could replace him with a legit 2C.

Fair enough. I was think Monahan, Bennett, and McCann would be sufficient down the middle to finally fix their goaltending issue . Then again, I think more highly of McCann that most others.

I feel like Botts will be back either way. It's odd they never really replaced Geurin/Fitzgerald/Botterill. I wouldnt think its a budget issue.

I have no real opinion of Karmanos but he and Botterill could both carve out roles here.

Fitz was replaced by a Botts promotion. Botts was replaced by a Guerrin promotion. Guerrin was replaced by a Karmanos promotion. That’s why I didn’t think Botts would be back with Karmanos is the chief lieutenant role, Botts would have to come back in a lesser capacity after just being a GM.

All joking aside I feel as though Risto as a 2nd pairing guy wouldn't be bad. I feel like defensemen go to Buffalo and don't play up to their normal level of play. I do like Risto's size and reach. He is probably someone Reirden would want on Pittsburgh. We do have past history with trying to sign Brandon Montour so I would assume he would probably be our top target with Buffalo and or I could see us going after a prospect like Mittelstadt. He is someone who hasn't played up to his potential, but is still very young and could still make an immediate impact.

They don't seem to like Bennett at center at all though he wants to play there. Moat of the time he's a 3rd line wing so I don't see them making him a 2C.
