How did this surprise you? It's been blatantly obvious how good they've been.

I have to confess I did not notice the disparity.

Let's hope that the goals by G and JVR were a sign of things to come.

There is no question, when the effort is there, we are the better team. Problem is the effort hasnt been there.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yes. Don’t play their game. Play yours. Frustration should go away as some have the monkey off their back. The modo from a couple years ago. Relentless. Be relentless. Last game was a positive. No heads were hung after that first goal. Instead they continued to play their game.

We lost in game 1 of that series and won game 7 for the win. I was interested in knowing the older in which led us to victory. When was the last time we came back 3-1? No I don’t want to talk Boston 2010. Lupul scored his lone goal of the seasons in that Game 7 OT winner.
- SuperSchennBros

Ok. Just didn’t understand the question. That was lupul only goal that post season? Wow.

tough, the 1st line was playing really well and G broker through. It would be great to see them play this game while having some confidence. Don't know without Coots maybe G has some of that old magic, knowing he is the man and has no choice but to be the man.

the 4th line has to be better, you know Trots with the last change is going to focus on hammering them.

- wcorvette

Hope barzal is out too to even it up. If coots is gone for the season then it’s unlikely we go much further anyway.

Effort and throwing more pucks on net with traffic. Can't rely on skill plays alone.

Teams don't often come back from 3-1, maybe 1 or 2 times per year. Aside from Boston, I can't think of any of them for the Flyers going as far back as the Lindros era.

I think that’s the only time we have. We blew a 3 1 lead vs Washington in 89 first round

Does anyone remember the series winning order of the 2008 Washington series, where Thoreson lost a Testicle and Lupul scored the Game 7 OT winner? I ask because, if memory serves, Lupul didn’t do much that series and ended as the series hero with his first goal. I’m looking at you Konecny.
- SuperSchennBros

Yep... LOL

A rebound in OT on the Flyers PP.
Lupul scored on a backhand and celebrated throwing his stick in the air that ended up going over the glass to a surprisingly heartbroken Caps fan I imagine !!!!

That was a fun series. I went to game 5 in DC. Briere had a prime one time chance with less than a minute to go that got blocked.

My hockey team won in overtime right before Lupul scored. It was a good night.

2000 they blew a 3-1 ECF lead. I was at game 6 of that series at the Meadowlands. I'll never forget that day. I had a root canal early that morning, then sat through another one that evening.

Do you guys remember how much stuff they let go by until they finally scored the pp on which Lupul scored?

The most devastating series loss in franchise history imo. 1987 SCF game 7 against a team with 7 hall of famers, while disappointing, could accept it. Especially playing without their leading scorer Tim Kerr the entire series. Pushing Edmonton to a game 7 that year is the most impressive thing they've done.

On a different note. Anyone else rather pleased that the isles are doing this well since Tavares have them them the cold shoulder. Karma I guess. And I know Toronto has some talent. But still. Glad we don’t have to worry about him out there as well. And yes I know they wouldn’t be the same team if they had kept him.

I love it, he skips town and they instantly have success. Never liked him and the way he left was poopty. I enjoy watching Toronto fail especially for all the stat nerds that can’t get enough of them

I refuse to believe this. The hockey gods are real. I’ve got to carefully select my jersey and hat and decide where’s best to watch. Everything riding on it.

LOL .....
I only wear my Danny B. Jersey since Philly loses if I wear another one LOL.
I know it's BS but still do it.

That's the bizarre beauty of it.... Unless it leads to mental health issues
or affects negatively your mental well being and/or psycho-social functioning obviously.

Superstitious behavior operates in a similar way as the phobia mechanism
does.

You're aware the danger, the outcome or the intense fear of X is irrational.
(Ex: phobia of grasshoppers).

You'r aware of this yet the fear is maintained through ''avoidance/ escaping'' of the stimuli. So the biased association is therefore maintained.

*Professional* exposure based therapies will certainly eliminate that particular fear by gradually exposing the phobic individual to the stimuli that frighten them over time.

Our superstitious behaviors are irrational and most of us are aware they are just as in phobias. We associate one particular result to a situation (I had this jersey on, watched the game with this friend, etc.

It gives us a false sense of security and confidence in intense emotional circumstances.

It gives us the false sense we did ''something'' to ensure
the outcome we are looking for. This happens when an individual is
experiencing a high uncertainty situation like the Flyers in the playoffs
and/or facing elimination.

By the way this will NOT happen (elimination) since I'm wearing my Brière
Jersey.

So game 7 here we come since you know .... logic!!!!

For me, its a little different. I am super rational in most things. I also know that it makes no difference.

But in sports, and in close personal relationships, I choose to be emotional.

Its like: reason builds the stage, but if on that stage there is no play of love, then the stage is worthless.

Yeah. It seemed he used them to drive up the price. And have them hope of resigning. Imagine what they could’ve got for him even as a rental.

Since we came back against Boston. Hasn’t like two other teams done this since?
