If the Canucks are eliminated in the next couple games, could see people interested in Marky for sure.

However, free agency is set to be around October 9, so how desperate would teams be to trade for him before then? Unless they're signing him to an 8 year deal, what's the point in giving up assets?

- NewYorkNuck

Couldn't they sign and trade? Then teams would pay for him.

Fwiw I think he should stay in Van next year.

I want him to stay also but I am concerned about his third groin pull.

Stecher just said "We need Demko to play the same tonight" I guess we now know who is in net.

that's an nba thing.

benning isn't the type of man who'd negotiate with markstrom in a duplicitous manner, meaning that he was just signing him to trade him.

markstrom won't want to negotiate with a team that doesn't want him as a starter. why wouldn't he just negotiate with the team that he has interest in (that also has interest in him?)

plus, i would imagine that price/contract demands are (at least somewhat) city/team specific. unless he's getting an overpayment of a contract, the difference could be several hundred thousands of dollars over the course of the contract.

Ottawa sure needs a goalie . Marky could reunite with Nilsson

- VANTEL

We don't need another Schneider/Luongo situation and we don't really have 6-8million over 6 years.

If Demko can play (steal) a few games Markstrom should be gone.....makes the right decision easier. DiPietro could back up or bring in a rusty vet for 25-30 games.

Nilsson's wife cuts Markstrom's hair....#swedishfetish #abba

Benning could trade Markstrom before he walks for nothing, definitely trade Jake and let Stecher walk.....so save 6 on Markstrom, 3 on Jake and promote from within on defense. Find a cheap back up goalie and let Demko become the future.

No adding assets or buying out contracts, cap issue solved

- Nuckerwhatever

love the idea, but who is going to pay for and extra week of contract negotiations? There are other good goalies currently available unless their teams lock them up.

Sometimes you sound just like Golfing. Weisbrod would do the duplicitous negotiations. He is bad cop.

Gillis was the problem. Bith goalies had value, needed to trade one and he didn’t. We don’t need to trade one yet and so you keep both. If Demko keeps playing like this, then we might have another story.

i guess it really depends on where markstrom lands in everyones rankings... imo hes the best one available and proven he can play 60 games at a fairly high level.

there has been some articles suggesting lehner is ahead but i think hes more a 1a tandem guy. well see soon enough which team is deparate to upgrade goalies *cough edmonton cough*

This team wouldn’t sniff the playoffs without Markstrom. Let him walk and we will tumble down the standings. But hey! Demko had one good game so he is the future! Embarrassing

My bad. Who (frank)ing cares about what Marky has done the last couple years. I’m sure Demko will do just fine facing 45 shots per night 70 times next season

It would be a big mistake. It’s a good problem to have them both and just no trade protection is key when signing him imo.
