the past 2 seasons have been extremely exciting and the future is bright. i do think they are currently 1 injury away from being depleted.. which at this stage isnt a big deal. i have faith in the upcoming prospects and furthr development of the young players will be able to adequately fill in when needed. that depth is key
- johnnykarate

I don't agree with the one injury away. Comets had a solid team last year and some guys that can step in and fill in for a while.

Again comparing both teams ( The Leafs and Us ) when a player goes down they make a call up from the marlies and they fit in seamlessly . We now have that equal talent on the Comets.

Yeah maybe. I don’t think anyone is trading for Bear, Lui, Sutter, Roussel or Beagle. I think they just need to ride it out, but we shall see.

I think a team looking to upgrade their 3rd line will go for Roussell. He has played well for us these playoffs, and some team out there will think they need what he brings.

If other GM's pay attention to advanced stats then no. Most of our third and fourth line players have very little trade value and they certainly won't be signed as FAs at the same amount of money and term JB has handed them.

i should say i think they are one injury in the top part of their line up from being depleted. utica guys fill in fine in the bottom half. we saw it a bit this year... the guys on the bottom half of the roster struggle to adequately fill in the top half when injuries happen. toffoli was brought in because the top 6 was struggling especially when boeser was out

But most GM's don't look at advanced stats in the same way fans do. When you look at trades, a lot of GM's seems to view adv stats as a guide line, but follow something different. Roussell came in to our team and produced at nearly half a point per game before his knee injury. He has 4 pts in 16 games these playoffs, and has done a good job of getting under a lot of peoples skin. Both of his goals were also timely and much needed when they occured. There is more to hockey than advanced stats, otherwise Coyotes would be a perennial cup contender with their(now ex) GM trying to moneyball hockey.
We have contracts that can be traded for assets, and some that need assets to move. I think Roussell will get enough from one team, to use to dump Sven.

We had Tofolli and Myers both out and we beat the Blues. Both have since returned.

Yeah I think if you asked Ottawa or Montreal if they would trade Roussel and the rights to Tryamkin for a 5 th round pick they might be okay with it.

Agreed, but that is expected of a young team. I think next season our 3rd line see's an improvement that gives us options to cover for top 6 injuries. Motte also looks like he ca be a decent 3rd wheel during injuries. Works hard and is pretty good at digging pucks out from the corner to keep the play going.

I worked for the SPCA for four years when I was younger. Came face to face with a lot of mean dogs. Only dog to ever tag me was a beagle. Fast little (frank)ers.

Agreed he is past his due date but if he is part of the reason the young guys on the team believe then I can’t complain...hopefully that $12M pays unmeasurable dividends in the future.
- CoolerHeads

Many veteran 3-4 liners in the NHL are 'Past their due date'. But that doesn't mean they can't contribute big in other ways. #teamwhiner will whine no matter how well the team does going forward but if you deny the intangibles this bottom 6 has brought to help get us where we are well...maybe watch the AHL where their favorite $975,000 'save the cap' players are a dime/dozen lol

they deserve props for pulling it off but imo binnington poop the bed in that series. if he had even an average .908 sv% thats 8 less goals the canucks get that series (i know its a chicken-egg... did the shots make his save% bad or was it the goalie being bad...etc) but they were outshot in that series by an average of like 11 shots per game. they are being outshot by 15 in this series. the depth isnt there but theyve been fortunate with very timely goals and saves imo

Some will look at it as he pooped the bed and some will look at it as we beat them. Everything can have more than one reason .I do stand my ground though I think we can take a hit other than Petey Bo or Hughes. We even have our top goalie out and are playing to win.

As you know I don't worry about those things.

I guess the big difference with me and others is they don't like certain players and I do.

Everyone is on board that Loui and Sven are mistakes but when it comes to Sutter or Beagle I like what they bring to the team. I know they are being pushed out the door but I can wait one more year.

It is a difference of opinion and that is fine. Sutter is usually on IR in regular season and it gives young guys a chance to play. When he is needed he magically comes off IR and fills the spot. I have liked his playoffs
.

100%

No one is saying we need to sign them again long term but at least have the ability to recognize the contributions. They are on their way out soon true but there is no way we make GM 7 of the second round without them IMO. It appears to be a very tight dressing room in there and you can bet Beagle and Sutter are a big part of it.

When I was a kid we had a Beagle that jumped up and bit one of my softball coaches in the nuts. This was after we told him not to go near it because he bit strangers...and the old "I'm good with dogs", reply.

It was hilarious because he tried to be all calm and cool about it but the agony of having a dog nip his balls won and he slowly keeled over.
