I like the idea of getting Allen to back up price, even at the cap hit but in reality it wasn't a very good trade for Bergy, he did St Louis a favor more than anything... I realize he has all these picks but still...

1st Allen is not a cap dump, he can play.
2nd, what tells you that the price was not reduced because of the high salary of Allen? maybe the going rate for a good backup is a 2nd round pick, and Habs only paid a 3rd round pick because of the 'cap dump'.
