all older goalies though, except for Hutchinson who's the same age as Allen... the way I saw it is Allen would be very consistent as Price's backup, didn't think he could be such a question mark even in that role - Pat1993
Backup goalie on a 1 year deal, age doesn't matter much, does it?

I agree... I dont have a problem with it, build relationships on favors, especially with GMs out West |

i'm not even sure what the big deal is but maybe i'm missing something. he's a good, but expensive, backup for one shortened and condensed season where there may be a lot of back to backs on a team where they obviously want to get to the playoffs with a healthy and rested carey price. the habs have the money for a year of this cap hit, his pads will probably look great, and then if he wants to re-sign there he'll have to take less money or he can go try to start somewhere else. |

Bahahaha
I really don't, just trying to see another side to it... because Army probably would have sent a 3rd to a different team just to get rid of Allen... until his buddy agreed to this deal |

There is no big deal... but you don't think dumping Allen helped St Louis a whole lot? |

i haven't actually been reading along because it's just way too much back and forth. i'm just talking about the habs getting him. i don't really care about the blues dumping his salary. sure that's good for them but it worked out that the habs got a good backup for carey for at least this year. everybody should be happy.
1.85 million dollar backups are how i ended up having to watch michal neuvirth and you got to watch keith kinkaid wave at passing pucks like they were trying to introduce themselves.
if you were taking on andrew macdonald's contract with years remaining on it i could see it being a problem but it's one year of something a lot of people were asking for a week ago. |
