So.... fair to say Bergy did his buddy Armstrong a solid? An overpriced backup from a team that needed to shed money in a desperate way, he even handed them a 3rd!

Maybe there's a back end to this?

you really don't like the trade do you

he'll be overpriced for one year... I don't understand what's not to like, for once they acquired a decent goalie who might be a below average #1, but an excellent backup who you can rely on

No, no... hear me out! Habs have money to throw away and picks as well... I really couldn't care less about the 3rd and it's not my money paying for Allen! They needed a goalie, they got one.... but you know they could have grabbed one for 2 million on the FA market and kept the pick, right? So, why? Why help out St Louis? Because that's exactly what he did, that's not even debatable!

What if the "why" is if the Blues re-sign Petro and can't afford Dunn, Army sends him to the Habs in a trade already worked out? It's a little out there but if Dunn is traded to Montreal at any time during the off season, you heard it here first 😁

I agree, enough with the half-ass measures for the back up.

Problem solve, lets move to the next issue.

could you name a few of these other cheaper goalies? because Allen is gonna be a pretty damn good backup imo...

Greiss, Khudobin, Hutchinson...

Allen has been very inconsistent throughout his career man, I'll roll the dice on one year, even if way overpayed... especially with Primeau there if Allen really sh!ts the bed but to believe he was the best option, especially at the cap hit and cost, is not true at all.... no way this wasn't a favor to Army

Never know, unless they dump another player (Steen or Bozak), the Blues cant really afford both Petro and Dunn

all older goalies though, except for Hutchinson who's the same age as Allen... the way I saw it is Allen would be very consistent as Price's backup, didn't think he could be such a question mark even in that role
