I feel like in general this bubble has shown us just how valuable a good coach is.. And the culture of the room. No fans to energize you..just yourselves and your coach.

If you think fans have any input on the game, you’re an idiot. It’s dollars and cents for them. Fans don’t mean poop, as long as their buying jerseys.

I've heard athletes in multiple sports comment on playing without the energy of the fans. Maybe they're just giving us "fan service", as it were. I appreciate the completely unnecessary personal attack though.

Every NHL player has their favorite rinks to play in. Mtl, NY, Wpg, Nsh, are all common favorites because they are noisy, jam packed arena's. Fans certainly have an impact, but final say will always be the owner obviously. But Players and Owners both like having a great fan base. I am more concerned when players refuse to play in a big market, as they seem to like the ability to take nights off.

Fun fact. Many people think the Sutter brothers collected the most total NHL points as a sibling set, because something like 7 of them played in the NHL. Nope, not the Staals, or Primeaus, or Sedins....... Gretzkys brother (Brent) played a 13 NHL games and paired with Wayne, they take the cake.

One of my favorite trivia questions...Goes hand in hand with "Which brother combination hit the most home runs in MLB history?" Hank and Tommy Aaron combined for 769 with Tommy getting all of 13.

The best trivia question (and great for making money at a bar) is to ask which American team was the first to win the Stanley Cup. It's the Seattle Metropolitans in 1916-17. (before the NHL even existed but the Cup predates the league by a lot).

If you want to double down tell them you'll make it easier for them and ask what the first American Team to win the Stanley cup was in the NHL. It's remarkably the NY Rangers in 1927-28. Most people guess Boston or Detroit...

The smallest city to win the cup is the Kenora Thistles in 1906-07. Kenora was a new 'city' formed when a few towns joined together. But the cool part is the Thistles were a powerhouse team that played for years when the town was named Rat Portage up in Ontario.

Interesting hire by Devils...Put a boat load of points up in his career...Let us hope he can be a huge help in getting Hughes and other young forwards on track!

Solid addition! Over 1500 points in his career, won a Cup in 3 different decades. Tough as nails and very underrated as a person. Can't go wrong with adding a guy like this. A+ addition.

Too bad those things don't matter when determining a good coach.

I'd like to think his grit and ring will have a big impact when scoring power play goals. I don't really see how this logic doesn't hold up.
