Lindblom, before his diagnosis, was a top-6 forward. Frost was a call up who looked lost after 2 games. - jmatchett383
Not debating Lindblom being the far superior player at this point, he hasn't played in 9 months and he's what 2 months post cancer treatments? Physically I wouldn't want him playing yet. The pace of the playoffs, and the physical nature of this series without having any games under your belt is an unfair ask.
Very slow foot speed to begin with, jumping into playoff hockey after an 8 month layoff would be a horrible decision to put him in at this point. Would love to know when we are allowed to take the training wheels off Frost - ClaudeFather
If the other options are a warm body in Bunnamann and a 20-year old with like 10 total games...
It's not ideal, and I've not said they SHOULD do it. It should be an option.
coaches choice. One can be more ready at the time. Variety of reasons. Point is hagg is very replaceable. You give friedman or whoever a shot. Then if cant handle it you make a move for someone who can. Hagg just doesn't move the needle in any way for me. - login
Isn't not moving the needle exactly what you want from a 6/7D?
Raffl skated yesterday. That is a decent sign at least. Couturier played in the playoffs with a brace against the Penguins. He had a sprained MCL (same thing as a tear). If he doesn't play tomorrow it's likely he has a torn ACL and he will be out a good portion of next season which will be a crippling blow.

Raffl would be much first choice and I would like him to come in even if #14 plays. Isles get last change tomorrow. They will roll the Barzal lane against Grant/Nate's. I would prefer Raffl on that line instead of NAK. I might even prefer him over Grant, given how the latter is playing.

This is totally Plind thinking about the possibility of Couturier being out with a major injury because it will give him so many ways to blame the Flyers for that injury.

I don't get it. I moved on from cartoons around the same time I stopped playing video games.

Of course Raffl should be playing over Grant and Thompson. Those guys aren't getting scratched regardless. They both have played every game in the bubble.

I am trying to read the tea leaves at face value: if AV says he is "still being evaluated" instead of just saying no news etc., AND if this is correct and not strategic, then for sure it is not a torn ACL. It will not take that long to determine. If he is still being evaluated then they are trying to determine whether he could worsen it while playing with a brace or can play at all.
We can win three straight. Going waaaay back... In 1975 the 51 win Flyers were heavy favorites over the Islanders in the semi-final. The Flyers thought they were on their way to a sweep until the Islanders won 3 straight. Thank god game 7 was home. We were sweating bullets. Especially because the Isles came back from 3 down to beat the Pens. I was at the game and we were nervous and I remember we scored early. Everything else is a blank. Two more wins is certainly possible even without Coots but then there's Tampa. Forget it.

IMO, Vigneault knows the deal with the injury, and he's just not making it public. He hasn't been forthcoming with any injuries the entire time during the playoff bubble.

I agree. As for Tampa, if you get to a conference final or the Cup Final, you're usually going to be up against a very tough opponent (every once in awhile, such as 2010 ECF, you catch a lesser team that made an unexpected run but that's not the norm).

Of course he knows. But he has never used that phrase "being evaluated" before. Its a 75% chance he is trying to affect Trotz game planning, but 25% chance this is indeed true. Except that the evaluation is not for the nature of injury but whether he can play with it.

"Being evaluated" simply is a way to cut off media questions about it. Once he makes that statement, it ends the discussion. You won't know for certain if Couturier is playing tomorrow until the team takes the ice for warmups.
