Sorry, why are we ignoring this year? The most recent indicator. - Archaic
Because its just 1 bad season and he only played 59 games, it could be an indicator but it’s not a definite...it’s not like he’s 35 already.

Rumour is Buffalo will go hard after Hall. They never learn. That'll be, what 22+ million on 3 aging wingers? |

Why exactly are we debating the merits of Jeff Skinner?
0.00% chance he is traded to the Leafs.
0.00% chance he is traded anywhere.
I do not have to think about him until the next Leafs-Sabres game, which is months, if not years from now. |

His entire career is not very consistent to think he'll ever be worth that. Especaiily in years 28-35 |

Every single player signed by any team in this history of the league.

I don't think his value could be any higher than it is right now -- I mean, sure, you can gamble that he has a similar (or even better!) year in 20/21, but the Leafs desperately need a stud RHD.
Clear his salary for Petro.
I love Willie - I think his salary has suddenly become pretty fantastic... but if you can trade him for picks and clear cap space for Petro at 8-8.5M, you have to do it.
I'm not on board with signing RHDs who don't have the pedigree to play top pairing minutes on a Cup contending team.
Free Willie and land Petro! - mjones242
I'd still rather trade for a RH D if I can than sign Pietro. Little too expensive and old.

For sure.
It was written in the stars he wouldn't live up to the contract the moment it was signed.
There are better players to invest 9M in.
Like Taylor Hall
with the Habs. - Scabeh
Hall would be good on the Habs. He's a much better player than Skinner. And he's only -42 on his career playing for some terrible teams, while Skinner is -118. He's scored way more points in less games played. But the Habs have lots of cap space how about $10 Million x 7 for Hall?

Habs are in good shape to sign anyone who'll take their $. they are rich, so no budget cutting and have lots of cap space. Bergevin better not (frank) this up |

If what he's asking for is 10M. I wouldn't sign him.
At 9 though? I'd be all over this like an oreo cheesecake.

Yeah but they also have plenty of expiring contracts they need to make decisions on.
Petry will be resigned.
Gallagher, obviously.
Danault as well.
All of them getting a raise.
The only odd man out is Tatar who should be traded away at some point but will most likely be kept in the hopes of making the playoffs.
Obviously Hall would replace Tatar easily. |

I'm not a music guy (2 songs on my phone), but the obsession with the Dead baffles me.
I just don't think they are that good.

Oh no, he's most likely gonna get moved.
After a great season, he didn't show the same drive this season and the results were very "meh". With Suzuki and KK on the team, they tried to put him back on the wing but he's completely invisible at that position.
So the only conclusion is that he can't be a 4th line centre behind Suzuki, KK and Danault.... so we're better off trading him elsewhere.
He's a talented guy but rumors of him pouting alot when he doesn't get what he wants keep showing up..... that can't be good.
I don't see how the Habs can sign him without going to arbitration, something they obviously would like to avoid. |

It's really quite comparable to the Leafs signing Tavares.
Hall could be a good pickup for the right price.
