Imagine waiting for McJesus to actually win something meaningful before making such a grand declaration like calling him McJesus... he's an outstanding player, but he's not the only outstanding player in the league. - khawk
Sorry, what has Mackinnon won that is more meaningful than McJesus? |

There’s McDavid and there’s everybody else. The Avs would trade Mac for McDavid in a heartbeat. - shack67
no, they absolutely would not, and you wouldn’t find even one avalanche fan who would take that trade.
i’m not getting involved in this pissing contest about mack and mcdavid, but what i said above is fact. |

The only one who wouldn’t make that trade is the Oilers. They would have to be insane. |

Put a lot of thought in this...
I would put mackinnon way below scotty “too hotty” laughton and just slightly above nate thompson.
Thoughts/comments??? |

Don’t worry he’s on it.
Another year of typical oiler uselessness and he’ll demand a trade.
And i’d be in full agreement 100%.
Oilers are what gretzky called jersey back in 1980...”a mickey mouse team”...
Edmonton doesn’t deserve him...he’ll be gone soon enough. |

Won’t have any choice.
He’ll sit out until he gets traded. That is the right move.
Edmonton is wasting away the greatest hockey player in the world.
They can’t even beat chicago and chicago totally blows!!! |

You're right... neither has really won anything at the NHL level, especially in the past 2 years... so I guess we're in agreement that neither has established nearly enough in their career to be worthy of a childish nickname like "McJesus". That said, when exactly has McDavid done anything even approaching what MacKinnon has done in this year's playoffs, by joining Messier, Orr, and Trottier as the only players in NHL history to have a 13GP scoring streak in the post-season? Factor in the fact that MacKinnon is nominated for 3 NHL awards this year to McDavid's 0, and I really have no idea why it's such a problem for people to acknowledge that just maybe MacKinnon is having an exceptional year that is just a bit more impressive than what McDavid has accomplished over the past year.
Don't worry, children... McDavid is still a great player. It doesn't mean other players can't be great once in a while too.

Sorry...but MacDavid does NOT play goal or defense.
But yeah...when he steps on the ice...easily the greatest player in the game. No brainer really. |

you clearly haven’t watched mackinnon on a nightly basis for the last few seasons as he’s refined his game and become the powerhouse he is; simply looking at numbers or highlights doesn’t do him justice.
a decent amount of people commenting here were referencing the fact that one player cannot carry a team. yet that’s exactly what mackinnon did during last year’s playoffs. not many people gave them a chance against the flames, and yet it was mackinnon who single-handedly ended them in 5 games.
nobody in the organization would trade mackinnon for anyone, period. not even if it were for mcdavid. only someone who infrequently watches the avs would think otherwise, and that’s fair/fine. but you’re flat out wrong.
i’ve said my peace. i’m out. |

Like 99% are saying,
Its McDavid all the way.
Can't wait to see McDavid on a real team,
Team Canada Olympics.

The one and only reason a GM would think about this for more then 30seconds is MacKinnon's contract. |

McDavid plays on average with RNH and some random 3rd winger grinder of Tippet's choosing , McKinnon plays with Landeskog and Rantanen - Alexzanki
This is what I was going to say. How would McKinnon do with Blake Archibald and Zach Kassian? lol
but really...who cares...these two are both generational talents and I'd be happy with either one.

So if a poll was taken, and a huge sample was taken, you're gonna tell us that it would even be close?? THE PLAYERS HAVE ELECTED McDAVID THE BEST PLAYER FOR HOW MANY YEARS NOW??? THE PLAYERS.
Oh, but we get it...you REALLY know hockey...you've been "playing since you were 5". You REALLY know hockey. The rest of us have no idea. Including the 750 players that have named McD the best.
Is your lunchbreak over?? its time to stop being a director of pro player personnel, punch back in, and handle that cleanup in Aisle 5. |

If McDavid was still playing hed have more points than MacKinnon. Its more a question of the team there on than the dominance of player. |

Hurts my head reading this dribble define best player ? Is it individual awards ? Team accomplishments? Both? Cause if it is any or all Crosby and Towes have by miles the best resumes for that title ! So until these two amazing players build a better resume neither is “the best” right now !!!!! |

For how many years now? Can you count to 2? Yes, McDavid won the Lindsay Awards twice, and that was also now 2 years ago since he last won it. So - and follow along carefully now - after this year "THE PLAYERS" will have voted for 2 other players as being the best (i.e. unbelievably, not McDavid). And this year, "THE PLAYERS" have actually voted more for MacKinnon than McDavid, because MacKinnon is actually a finalist for the award. So just maybe it's not quite as obvious as you might think, despite your childish use of CAPS.
Seriously, you guys are like some kind of a cult. Its a light academic discussion about two outstanding hockey players. Disagree if you want, but calm the hell down. |

You seem pretty upset about the "McJesus" nickname. I think that makes you the child, sir. |
