I believe we have our depth on D in the pipeline is easily next level

I’m growing more and more in favor of trading Buch along with the Carolina pick to get I to the 9-12 range, we have a gluttony of wingers and he still hasn’t reached potential,

Domi is on his way out in MTL, he’s the perfect fit in my opinion.

If he gets traded, I think he goes to Winnipeg in a big deal involving Laine. I don't hate him, but he is no good at face-offs and that is the upgrade we are seeking.

He was 49% last year, I wouldn’t call that no good.

He loses more than he wins, to me thats no good when we are trying to UPGRADE.

I'm not advocating for Domi but compare his numbers to Chytil.

Not saying I want Domi but I am not passing on a player just cause of his faceoff numbers if he is good at everything else. That is one skill I feel can be learned with good coaching. You can't teach skill or effort

I am all for a Domi trade, I don't think we will be the team though

but you never know

I get the Rangers need to win more, but I am not building a teams center depth based on faceoffs

I really think we are adding a 2nd line center and a 2nd pair Left handed D man this offseason. I think Gorton finds some cost controlled options in trades and cashes in on a few of our assets.

I still have a feeling that they are going to let Staal and Smith finish out their contracts

The plan will be to try and break K'Andre in at some point though

that's what I think will happen, not that I want that to be what happens

That's the plan I hope they follow. I'd even rather they stand pat on centers for one more year instead of possibly regretting a move later on.
One more year for teaching and growth of the kids, buy-out numbers drop and lots of money off the books. Then all at once, we know better who we want to move on from and what we really need to address and have enough cap space to do it.

Yup.

The only caveat I would say is if they can find a slightly younger upgrade over Strome they should go for it.

I think something will happen with the forwards, just depends how deep the changes get

but yeah, there is a big part of me that thinks the wisest thing to do would be just let the bad contracts run themselves out and make this coming season about Kakko, Shesty's and Fox's continued development and the introductions of Lafreniere and K'Andre

I think Staal for sure will be here but I think Smith can be traded if we eat half of the salary.

maybe, I think what happens with Tony D is the biggest thing

because if Tony D gets dealt then they could just use Smith on the right side one more year until Lundkvist gets here

Tony D gets re-signed, yeah, Smith will likely be on the move

All I know is both Staal and Smith can't be playing at the same time if this team wants to make a run at a playoff spot next season. I think all mgmt saw that to. One would have to be a healthy scratch

Yep, next season about assessing development and shedding cap space, then fill holes.

Unless we are somehow in the mix.

Think a lot of it is going to be what they think of Miller. If they think he is ready I could see him starting the season to see how he does and having Smith on the 4th line.

I don't think the Rangers were planning on having Lindgren up all last year and his play kept him in the lineup. So it is possible the same thing could happen with Miller, or just flip flopping with Staal. Lots of different options

Miller will play all 82 games next year, as long as he stays healthy

At least Smith is a serviceable 4th liner should that be needed, I'd rotate staal and Nils at some point in the season.

Nils is staying in Sweden. Think you mean Miller, but I get why you confused them, they do look alike
