I think there's a distinction to be made between a cap dump and a cap casualty. Hunwick was a cap dump, Sheary a casualty. If he was a poor player Pitt didn't want, they wouldn't have traded for him back IMO.

He's a minor upgrade over Larsson, if any upgrade at all when you factor in his next deal.

I can't stand Murphy, he comes across as a pompous ass. In saying that, it was comical they suspended him. Howard Simon was berating the Pegula's for letting the Sabres Hall of fame fade away since 2012. Really laid into them for it, he must not be under their employment.

He got his contract coming off a 53 pt in 61 game season. Came back down to Earth and they moved on fast. If you want to find a term between dump and casualty, that's fine. It wasn't the worst deal ever, but it certainly was money poorly allocated.

I don't see it as them wanting him back. They rented him, for a guy they knew they couldn't pay as an RFA. They are better at these games than JB was. If they retain him for anything close to 3m, I'll gladly retract.

Thin skinned by the Pegulas. That said Murphy pretty consistently said he doesn't watch the sabres and even said things in February to Tasker like "wow, youre still going to the games?" And "wow, you're still watching them?"

No I don't have a time stamp but his attitude was pretty plainly dripping with disdain for the sabres and he should have stayed in his lane. And the Pegulas should get a thicker skin
